    I just traded my my Smith & Wesson 617-6 22lr for a Smith 629-6 in 44 mag, reused my Weigand scope base, but now I need a scope. What do you all recommend? Shots will be kept to 50-75 yards.

    Yes indeed, and kicked it up by adding extra ammonia, maybe 1/2 cup extra to a gallon jug of Windex. Made a wet flush jig that recirculates from the breech to bore, I think about a cup worth. A couple minutes later, flush it out with clean water, dry it thoroughly and oil it up damn good. Good to go. Maybe overboard but I don't want to risk the salts trashing a barrel I don't really feel like replacing. It's worked well for several years with no problems. Could be extreme but works for me.
    Or don't use corrosive ammo

    Interesting, I probably wouldn't buy one because of the bulk if Holosun would put a small back plate on their HS 507C that closed the back it would alleviate any of the "shoveling" issues that style optic has.
