If it's a bad wheel bearing, your brakes will start to feel mushy. Like you have to pump them up once or twice to get the pressure back. When they start feeling mushy, you don't have much longer (50,60 miles or so, I never pushed it that far...) before failure.

Good to know. It seemed fine the rest of the day, just wierd in 4x4. Like the axle was seized on that side or something. Stalled it out like 4 times trying to turn around in the driveway. Kept it in 2 wheel drive. Figure I'll baby it until I get time after work to get it in a warm garage and try to give it a once over. I'm hoping that it is something just froze up.

We resorted to going out every 3 hours and starting our trucks... hoping tomorrow that mine actually starts, it was dead this morning, doors were frozen shut, broke the plastic bit that goes across the windshield under the hood, or at least the clips. I'm not entirely thrilled. I may have actually done damage to the windshield fluid lines, the driver side is frozen too.

*sigh* Going to grab a new battery on Wednesday if not tomorrow depending on our schedule, class and calls.

12 degrees with a “real feel” of -3... I would say it’s getting cold.

My coworker has had a bad battery for like 2 years. He plugs it in every night, the cheap bastard.

I only run -20 or better windshield washer fluid for a reason. Also starting your car long enough to idle to warm may be a net loss on the charge of your battery.

Good to know there is another local guy in this thread. I am about an hour or so north. I know there are a few from the western side, but the majority are from Philly it seems.

I've left it in 2 wheel and haven't had an issue since. I work the next two nights, so hopefully whatever it was goes away or holds up until then. I don't want to use 4x4 until i can get it in and on a lift though.

Yeah, Pottsville (The magical land of Yuengling) is about another hour northwest of me and Taco Critter. If only... I hear they pipe it directly to the homes there like public water and gas lines. Fountains in parks splash with the stuff, people spontaneously bust out in song and dance acts praising the beer. Oh Yuengling we love you.

Gotta think happy thoughts lest our brains freeze up in this cold! ;-)

These Cold Temperatures can play games with the front axle does it keep feeling strange after things are warmed up ?

CV axle stiff with the cold ?

My truck will move with the case in 4 hi and transmission in neutral when it gets close to 0F

As your wheel bearing are under load all the time

This has me . No Joe i am not driving it too and from work in 4WD. I don't use 4WD unless i have to. I'm talking about trying to back up in 4WD or even forward to get moving on ice. Reverse just seems to go at an angle that i can't change. Forward there is very very bad binding like turning at full lock x'3. There is no noise that i can hear. My tires are too loud to hear anything like that over them. It feels like my driver side front is locked up or barely moving when this happens. @LooseNut mentioned possibly a bad wheel bearing. I was thinking there was something bad with the axle, so wheel bearing is more appealing to me as i can change that myself. I was just hoping that someone else has had this happen or since i drove through the ice storm all night that it was just an ice issue. I just don't have time in the next two days to actually look it over.
