Hey @EatSleepTacos, on the subject of $80... Those B110's, I can run those on stock leaves/progressive AAL's and just not get the full effect right?
Ultimately I'll do Dakar's, Bumps, and Brake Line's and hopefully wouldn't be installing the B110's until then. However, I read like 7 pages of 5160 horror stories in the Baja thread this morning that have me concerned with how long mine will hold out....

You could, but the only thing that may be an issue is uptravel. You may run out of shock before you hit bump stops, so you'd be bottoming out the shocks and risk blowing some seals or something. On mine I was like 1/3" off so I limited my uptravel by 1". If you were to get some wheelers superbumps then that limits travel enough that you wouldn't risk bottoming out. It's only stock bumps you have to worry about.

Look at me, progressing from asking annoying truck buying questions to annoying suspension questions. @ovrlndkull predicted this IIRC....

Got it. Worst case scenario. Once Antarctica takes it's weather back I'm going to take some scotch brite and wd-40 to my 5160's and determine how bad they are.

Shocks are a wear item if you talk to any manufacturer they recc. replacement every 50k miles. Performance shocks are a different story call king, icon, bilstein, etc. They'll tell ya a lot less before a rebuild is needed and that you need to be regularly checking a lot of parts on those shocks like the heim joints and replace as needed.

The issue I'm reading about with these is corrosion. Bad. The shock and resi body I'm not too worried about, that should be mostly cosmetic surface rust, the banjo fittings that connect the shock to the resi's is what has me worried.

Here's the reason I'm selling the cage. My current optima 31M took a shit at 14 months. Froze two nights ago, split the case, and that's all she wrote. It's been having issues lately holding a charge, and because it was low on charge made it susceptible to freeze. So I'm taking advantage of the sale @buyobuyo turned me onto, and got an X2 27F, which is the same as northstar.

Here’s a pic of the cage. Still in excellent condition.

Just to build on this a bit:

Upgrading your system is quite simple and cheap than what it used to cost 15 years ago. Swapping the head unit for an aftermarket unit will give you a huge improvement. However that really just makes it louder, not better, if you keep the stock speakers. ********* has some options to upgrade the speakers that will add bass and clarity without a sub. While I was doing the install i added the noico sound mats to the inside of the door. That helped reduce noise from the road about 20 percent. The real noise issues are from the back wall and the floor. But that doesn't bother me enough to go threw the effort. If I wanted quiet, I would have bought a Mercedes.

Right on, thanks man! When it gets to the point of bothering me enough to do something about it, sounds like I can take my time and do it piece by piece. Any time I have things torn apart to the point that I can get sound deadening in, I plan on it.

I'm with you though on the Mercedes. It's a truck. I'm a truck guy. I've driven a bunch of different 3/4 - 1 ton work trucks over the years. Plus I'm a heavy equipment operator, loud things make me happy. All that said though, this '13 Taco is the newest, nicest thing I've ever personally owned, I want it to be quieter than a bulldozer.
