So, the OP admitted he fucked up and accepts responsibility of his actions. He didn’t try to lie or cover up the truth to the insurance adjuster so those with disparaging comments are best left to themselves

Yes I was straight up and to the point. I'm just glad they are taking care of it.

OP- you’ll love the 4Runner. I got one for the wife a few months ago and I would rather drive it most of the time. I love my Taco but I think the 4Runner is a better vehicle.

For those complaining about rates. Accidents inviolving bodily injury and corporate corruption are what drive up cost not a totaled vehicle.

There are some real d-bags on the internet that will take any chance to belittle. Everyone has done stuff that they regret or that effects others in a negative way. That’s called LIFE. The great news is that no one was hurt and the the OP had insurance.

    Cheers!

For the record...I’ve been involved in two separate accidents that weren’t my fault. The at fault drivers in both instances were uninsured and it’s ended up costing me $1k out of pocket for deductibles.

They the real MVP’s of higher insurance premiums and rates

I wish I’d get a new 4R after the accident but my insurance wouldn’t total it. Even with frame damage.

Stuck with it now and couldn’t even get depreciated value out of it cause the asshole didn’t have insurance. And I was out $500 for the deductible.

    Working on them
It kind of Reads a bit different than the way this attack indicates it. "Happened on the passenger side. I lit a handheld torch and .... This part is interesting because it clearly explains how it could of happen -----> it had a continuous button.... and Right here is a statement that says it all -----> Guess I didn't realize it was on when I went inside. And 45 min.later done" So clearly accidents can happen if a person is not familiar with the operation of the tool. o_O

What is it for, if it doesn’t cover negligence? Like, you always have the chance to look around you more, drive slower, avoid accidents, not drive when it’s icy, only park in a bank vault.....etc.

We insure ourselves against our own negligence, which includes not properly avoiding others crashing into us, or stealing our shit.

I agree, because insurers mostly deserve their reputation for being sub-microbial sleaze-bags. Their absolute imperative, is to avoid paying out. However, we all need them from time to time, and in some ways it’s nice to hear when someone actually gets to collect without a fight.
