Sadly this bucket of bolts has not gotten any attention since the last aoaa trip

Last weekend I was away all weekend watching penn state beat Wisconsin. :D
    IMG_8889.jpg

This weekend I had another line of higher priority maintenance. Pumped glycol into the floor heating for the shop and fired it up for the first time this season. Then it was brakes and oil for my dads "dog catcher"
    IMG_8969.jpg

Oil change and tire rotation for the daily beater
    IMG_8970.jpg

Good thing now is the lift bay is free and I pulled the taco in and started taking it apart, perhaps next weekend I can wrap it up. This week will be busy with work and the turkey celebrations. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's mornings are also taken up with pheasant hunting so I have much less free time to be messing with this poor neglected taco

Nothin too crazy. Replace leaf springs and bushings, axle shims, Ubolts

My rear locker is stuck on too so I need to see what's up with that.

I'm wondering if the 3rd Gen 8.75 would be a direct swap.

I have one with 4.88s already in it, disk breaks, and an ARB new ion the box on a shelf. If I could figure out a 6 lug conversion for it I'd swap it in.

Had anyone actually done a 14bolt swap on a non-SAS truck?

I don't think 14 bolt is worth it unless you have 40s or 37s and a full shave kit

Ive got the no weld shave cover on the shelf too. I think it gives about 3/4 of an inch less clearance than the full shave kit from ballistic. Trucks on 37s now.

Even with most the parts sitting there I'm not sure its worth the trouble though.

Once a spool is released for our 3rds they will be strong enough to run 37s easy

Got a new mechanics cart for the shop, should make reaching for the tools i use most often by the lift easier rather than walking across the shop. HF box get good reviews from online and can't beat $180.

Bushings out the wazoo, unfortunately none are the right size :bananadead:
    IMG_9925.jpg

I had a greasable shackle set up on the back I forget where I got the bushings from originally but the energy suspension kit ID is too big for the greasable bolts, and I threw away my OEM sized bolts years ago lol

    IMG_9935.jpg

Broke all the all-poo ubolts with the impact and breaker bar trying to remove, that was fun . Going to replace all-poo with the ruff stuff 5/8" kit, mucho better
    IMG_9932.jpg

Old leaf spring bushings look fine yeah?

Energy suspension leaf spring bushing ID(0.869") is a bit too big for the greasable bolts
    IMG_9941.jpg

    Greaseable bolt OD (~0.7")
    IMG_9939.jpg

My frame tube bushings are good but I need to find a leaf spring bushing with an ID of ~0.712" to fit the greasable bolts (below is the frame tube bushing)
    IMG_9940.jpg

    Energy suspension OD ~1.5"
    IMG_9937.jpg

At least I got the OME dakar AAL installed and all the old shit ripped out today.

Nice grab on the cart! That’ll be much more handy when you’re working off the lift or have to work outside.

Double check pretty sure that cart was on sale for $109. Through mlk day.
Disregard that one had one less drawer.

Thanks, I figure it'll serve me well. Easy to roll around to compared to the 44" box with the side attachment, that one might as well be welded to the floor lol

I think yeah the 4 drawer was $109. That design is a little different than the 5 drawer, the one I got seemed to get really good reviews so I figured it was worth a shot.

Oh I can understand that the 56” box stays planted then I have a small Mac box with specialty tools and a Craftsman with all electrical. At least I finally got it all reorganized so I can find everything. I just need to build another shed so I can get the 4wlr out of the garage and out of the way

One can never have too much storage! Build it and you'll fill it lol

Made a little more progress tonight. Got the new bushings in the leaves and then installed them, greased everything up including all the driveshaft u-joints. Dropped the gas tank skid to trim it up, of course 2 of the 4 studs snapped so I'll have to fix that at some point. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a look at the locker, I pulled the old actuator off tonight and it looked ok from the outside but I will test it when I have more energy.

OEM front bolt compared to the greasable bolt, quite a bit beefier.
    IMG_0083.jpg

Had to enlarge the front hanger bolt hole a bit to accept the new bolt

I didn't like how close the threads came to the gas tank

Trimmed the end off a bit

    Looks better
    IMG_0098.jpg

New ubolts in, will have to trim the extra length off the threads
