Found a 2001 SR5 regular cab 4 cyl 4wd automatic with 120k miles for sale locally. It's in great shape for the year, interior is nearly immaculate. Has a color matched leer camper shell and oversized BFG tires. Best price I can haggle em down to is $8800. Seems steep to me, but every tacoma I come across is priced above book.
Also, anything to look out for on this particular yr/model?

    Thanks!

Very very nice. That truck is clean. I think $8800 is a fair price.

Snap it up if it is what you want. That topper probably cost $1500.

If it's been in FL it's whole life then frame rust should not be a problem but check it anyway. See frame rust thread above.

Where is the truck located in FL? I headed to FL on Sunday to take care of some business so I could come take a look if you don't buy it.

I've been looking for a regular cab 4x4 auto like that for a couple of years. I missed a nice one by fooling around two years ago and haven't found one since.

BTW, I have 95k miles on my 2002 that I bought new and the only thing that I have done to it besides the regular maintenance by the owner's manual, one new battery, and one set of tires is new front pads at 90k miles. A 4x4 would be nice here in the mountains of WNC.

Yeah it really depends on where you live, but Tacomas seem to be on the high end of prices...But you get a solid truck...

That is a sweet truck! Yeah those Camper Shells color matched are expensive. That is a pretty good price. Is it power windows, door locks, etc?

Either way, 2001-2004 Tacomas have been argued to be the best Tacomas made. I am a little biased because I have a 01 Double Cab.

    Barnone-
I'll keep you posted. I'd like to pick this up, the way tacomas hold their value is a double edged sword. Good for the seller, but when you're coming in as a buyer it sure seems steep to pay this much for a 9yr old regular cab 4cyl truck with 120k miles!

The truck has crank windows but has an aftermarket power locks/keyless entry setup.

I just bought an 01 standard cab 2.7 4x4 without the shell, no SR5, with similar oversized tires and paid $9k private party. It had 67k miles. How much do you value the shell?

Shells new are around $1000, depends on what stuff you get added on...Roof Rack, Carpet, and so on...

Thats a mean looking little truck. I paid 7200 for a 02 TRD w/ 170,000 miles. It is a d-cab tho . I say get it. You wont find a much better deal w those kinds of miles.

Good Clean Truck, seems worth the cost.

A wash/wax/buff job can make a mechanically sound vehicle look like it's brand new....dig into its' VIN history...drive it....look/listen for quirks.
