You mean an axle truss? I don’t know anyone that makes it. And I tried cutting up the thong and bending it but the way it’s cut, it wouldn’t line up well at all. I’d rather save the frustration and get this one from trail gear, and weld it up.

Really the optima died? How long have you had it? I just put a optima in mine for the deep cycle capacity.

14 months. Apparently production switched to Mexico in 2009 and people said their quality went to shit, but I ignored it. I wouldn’t recommend their batteries anymore after this happened.

I would have never expected the gel inside to freeze and cause the casing to crack. Crazy

Me neither! It wasn’t even that cold, relatively speaking. It was in the single digit/teens area overnight which shouldn’t be an issue

I honestly thought the purpose of forking over $300 for a battery like this was to avoid this exact type of situation. Have you contacted optima to see if they will do good by their product?

Honestly I don’t want their product again. And l read the warranty which states since I bought it online, I’d have to ship it back for warranty work and that’d be a huge hassle. With all the discounts and selling my battery cage I’m out less than $200 for a new, superior battery. (Has better specs all around)

I was a little disappointed to see “car audio” under their abusive category when they would advertise heavily to the car/truck enthusiast

Yeah, so needless to say I’m not thrilled about the company or warranty. This new one has a 5 year warranty and I can go into a brick and mortar store for warranty work, which is really nice.

I caught a coupon code from the link. Hope it helps.

That thing is massive! You can still see the Northstar logo on the bottom right of the picture.

I dont see a lifting strap or handles on it. Its gonna be a workout getting it in/out of the truck

You could warranty replace the old battery and sell it to someone. Might make your new battery even cheaper

Nothing, I just wanted to gain a little diff clearance back. I get hung up on it a bit. I gained about 1/2” clearance which is equivalent to jumping to a 35” tire.
Thanks! I used a 20% off coupon code actually, plus there’s a $30 mail in rebate.
There’s a handle right there in the center lol
If I could get it warrantied locally I would, but in their warranty it specifically says if you buy online, you have to mail it back in. I don’t care to pursue it, but that isn’t a bad idea.
