Many people have put them in both of these locations. That’s how I try to do them at my shop. To date, I have done at least 20 this way and had zero issues from heat thankfully. Under the seat is probably “best” though, for the record.

@destin_meeks hey, are you still making the harness? I would love one to install the kicker key.

I was never able to unfortunately. Kicker doesn’t make/sell the wiring harness by itself. For a time, a few people sent me their harnesses and I built them and sent them back, but I’m way too busy at work this time of year to be able to do that anymore. It’s a very easy harness to build though.

I’d say put the full set in the 3rd gen marketplace for $50+shipping for a week or two and if you don’t get any bites, toss em

I keep all my stock stuff just in case I ever decide to sell/trade. I plan on driving this thing into the dirt but if I decide I want a tundra or 4Runner, she’s going back to factory and my nice gear is coming with me

Installed all 6 speakers today. I’m quite satisfied. A tip I got from a frend, instead of blowing big money on Dynomat or similar, I was told to go to Home Depot and sure enough in the roofing isle there is an Similar product. $19.00 bid a 6’x25” roll which worked out splendidly! I’d swear it’s the same stuff!

Is this stuff different than most and won't gas off or smell? I've seen the argument back and forth between people about this.

I like to use stuff that is designed for what I am using it for. But hopefully it lasts and goes well for you, maybe the newer tape isn't a problem and it was just some older formulas giving people issues.

Ok now I'm worried. I just went to my truck, forgetting that I didn't have my keys on me, and successfully opened my door!

The truck even beeped when I placed my hand on the handle so I was totally thrown off when the alarm started going. I quickly realized I didn't have my keys on me and had to run back to my office to get my keys/fob.

Now I did install my speakers last week so I am gonna say I did something wrong when putting the door panel back on, but has anyone experienced this before?

Could it be something else that caused the door to just open so easily while locked? And if not, what did I screw up when putting back the door panel??

Who did you order speakers from? If Crutchfield, call them.

    Super easy
    Improved sound
Still. Amp and sub might just complete the deal.

    Overall. Happy

    Again
    Super easy.

    Many.
Many folks went with the key to amp 4 channels but has anyone amped all 4 speakers, 2 tweeters and a sub? Curious about their experience. If you can’t tell, I haven’t done a lot of car audio stuff.

It's getting checked by the dealer in a few days. Hasn't happened since though but still concerning.

You mean <$250 isn’t going to give me audiophile sound?

    Ugh.

Had this setup in my WRX. Sounded okay, but that’s because the WRX was built to sound like a go kart.

Ordered the tweeters to start. It’s too cold to ripping door panels off right now.
