research my friend. BBs are more for working class businessmen since they work well with email and all, but droids can do that too. if you want an amusing, versatile phone id go with a droid. find one that suites your needs because all the droid phones are great.

It also depends on what you will be doing. Otterbox makes very rugged cases for BB, not for droids. The huge screen on droid is the most vulnerable spot. Do touch screens work with your fingers?
Narrow your search for features you want/need and play with as many phones as you can. Go with a provider that allows exchanges/returns, so you don't get stuck with something you hate.
I'm getting the droid x. I just need to find a good case to protect it.
DO NOT get an incredible, they are discontinuing them due to screen problems.

The Incredible is not being discontinued, but they may be changing the screen type to super TFT from AMOLED.

Go see it in person. Many people find it a bit big to carry around.

I actually just got a motorola droid yesterday and gave up on my blackberry. I had a BB for the last 3 years and went through four of them. The last ones keyboard went bad and I'm sick of this phone malfunctioning. The droid is nice, I looked at the droid X and it is def waaaay to big for me. It looks like its nice and the mobile hot spot shit is cool but it's an extra $20 a month. That would have put my cell phone bill at $140. Not doing that. Go check them out but in my experience the BB just have too much shit that goes bad with them. GL

Droid - I use my phone more than most - I also use it for a free tether any where I have service. It's nice when I have to send a quick fax or look up a property. I am very happy with it and the Verizon infrastructure - they have always been the best (I have had every carrier and worked with both A and B sides and before PCS carriers). I have had more phones than I should admit to. I have had an iPhone (At&t), blackberry (tMobile) and blackberry (Verizon) at the same time and, for me, the blackberry was just better and Verizon had much better coverage. I love the look and feel of the iPhone - I just don't dig their 'you get everything from me' attitude, closed architecture and lack of battery options.

our company (and my last company) uses bb's for all their employees (my wife and i use them as well) and we rarely ever see any problems with them. never even have had an issue with the tracball, although i know some people do. not an issue now that as they've changed it to the pad, which i like as well.

I have had the BB 8530 and traded it for the Droid Eris. I myself like the Eris because of the droid market. BB has about 200-300 apps to choose from Droid has like 10,000+. Not that you would use that many apps but the more there is to choose from the more you will find that you can use. The droids camera is also much better and the droid comes with an 8mg sd card and the BB comes with a 2mg. The screen on the droid is also clearer and brighter.

Pro's for BB is the security. If your nor using the phone for business than I have to suggest a Android phone. Better multimedia and more fun.

They don't make a Defender, but they do make a commuter:

    http://www.otterbox.com/motorola-ca...cases/droid-by-motorola-commuter-series-case/

I had a long line of BB's before getting a Droid on Verizon. It took a week or so to get used to not have a vertical keyboard but I'm good now. I will say the keyboard on the Droid is pretty bad. I started using the virtual on screen keyboard more and fell in love. But I did start wanting a bigger keyboard after some time. I switched over to Sprint for the EVO and love it. Service is on par with Verizon and it is an awesome phone.....not to mention I save close to $22 a month.

OP I would suggest looking at the Droid X if you don't NEED a keyboard. If you need one I would suggest waiting for the Droid 2 which is more than likely coming out in the next 2 months or so (per the phone blogs)

I have the Incredible and like it thus far (only 2 weeks) far and away better than my BB Storm. I will say that the battery life absolutely sucks though.

Yeah, BB's are known for the battery life. My EVO had horrible battery life until the most recent update and it is far better now. I can get through around 12hrs before a recharge is needed on a heavy day. On light usage wake up to sleep.

My Storm was tough on bateries too. The incredible needs recharged after 4-6 hours of heavy use on WiFi

That sucks the EVO lasts way longer than that on wifi. Wifi doesn't strain the battery as much as the mobile network, so what do you get on 4 - 6 hours of mobile network browsing?

well, maybe it is a little longer than that on WiFi. I am rarely on the 3g so it is tough to gauge the life.
