Take it off and test it out then you can put it back on. Tie that sucker up and put some pool noodles on the ends if you want. It’s just a suggestion to see if that isolates the noise.

Oh no, that's a great suggestion. I'm definitely willing to take it off to see if that's what the issue is. I'm just not going to leave it off long term.

I thought much the same thing and fused to take it off for a long time. But once I finally removed mine, I have to say I don't miss it!

What are ya'lls thoughts on auto zone u joint. Should I stick with toyota oem or are autozone ok. Getting ready to change mine in the next couple weeks. I learned my lesson on the cv asked they sell but does that apply to all drive line parts?

Even though i used Moog on my last 2 Tacomas.

RockAuto had good prices for both Moog and Dana/Spicer options when i was looking.

Can't believe no one asked you when its clunking ..... I'll do it ....

So when are you getting the clunk? Suspension compression, suspension rebound, in forward, in reverse, over small bumps at slow speeds, over speed bumps at slow speeds, over small bumps at fast speeds, over every bump in the road regardless of speed, while turning slightly, while turning full lock, while swerving back and forth, when on the brakes, when on the brakes hard ...... I may have forgot something.

My first few thoughts, assuming all you did was pull out the stock strut and put in the coilover, is ....
    1. it's the shock topping out internally on full rebound
    2. its using poly bushings or derlin bushings and uniballs instead of oem rubber bushing
    3. now since your static ride height has changed significantly, worn lca bushing or inner tie rod bushings are being shown
    4. it's a shitty coilover and has plotted against you and plans on exploding just as you start a turn around a canyon road with a 1000' vertical rock face leading to a diverse pit of jagged rocks and thriving cacti where, after barely surviving the terrifying fall and scorching inferno you used to call your truck, you will inevitably kill yourself from sleep deprivation having spent your remaining days thinking about how if only you had taken the 4th guess on this list seriously, you wouldn't be looking forward to spending the rest of eternity playing cowboys and Indians with Hitler

    Same. Also clunking.

Same. Wasn't worried until this thread.

That's my plan with the larger tires, I was curious to see if the clunking would stop.

My daily is my truck, 42 miles to and from work. Fuck that sway bar. Ain't flopped over yet! I'll catch enough hell for the armor if I get into an accident.

Animals and people that I may have to swerve around, you say? Why else did I put the cheap ebay bumper on then?

I like this post. Thank you for it.

Clunk is only, noticeably, happening at speeds under 20 MPH going forward (though I haven't driven in reverse over a speed bump lately). Happens when the wheel is straight, slightly turned, or full lock. Both during braking and non-braking.

I replaced the UCA's as well. Other than that, yes all I did was pull out the stock strut.

    1) I guess it could be, but I'd be very surprised. Especially with an Extended travel coil-over. Full rebound on a small bump into a driveway?

    2) No idea.

    3) Possibly.

    4) 100% this has to be it.

My 2nd gen had a clunk from worn LCA bushings. Video is a FJ, but you get the idea. Pretty easy to tape your phone in there and get a video.

No word on the Highlander yet. Supposedly they are still tearing it apart and getting me a quote? I was going to call them today and check in.

Once I'm not daily-ing the truck anymore I'm down to cut it and fit these new tires on. Still need to buy some TPMS/normal valve stems and then get one of them mounted up. Not sure if I want to go TPMS or if I even can on these wheels.

    Right.
Run trails with it on. Then take it off and run those same trails. It will stay off. I'm sure my 885s keep mine from rolling too much as well

You only drive 5 minutes to work, you would be better off DDing your tank. That way if you get hit you can say "oh, looks fine here... ooooh :( .. sorry about your car. Have a nice day" and drive off. Also people generally will give you more space.

I think I threw my sway bar away about a decade ago.

With stock squishy suspension, sure, use it. But with a lift and tighter coils/shocks doing all the work, there's hardly a need for it.

I will say @PopeHodge to take a pic of your CV angles, something tells me you have too much front lift and the suspension is constantly topping out on the rebound stroke. Speaking from experience.

You're probably right, but I'd also be a whole lot more sad if I got into an accident in my truck than in a beater.

I've got 600lbs coils, and I'd probably run without a swaybar. I'd be even more comfortable with 650s or 700s though. Especially if you're not DDing it.
