Can someone confirm if the gen 3 trd OR is the same as the Gen 2? I did some looking and only found for gen 2s. Apparently with the OR you can push the brake half way and it will pump on its own. Anyone done this on a gen3 OR is that something that changed?

It's the same. I bled the brakes on a 3rd gen OR a few weeks ago and it was the easiest shit ever. Just make sure you don't let the fluid get too low in the reservoir.

Sweet. That makes it easy as shit. I was hoping it would be the same. I can just wedge a board on the pedal and crack the bleeder on my own. My brake pumpers are busy with the new baby and not old enough to reach the pedal yet.

I think my truck needs that also the pedal feel is horrible and doesn’t come to a smooth stop I suspect air bubbles in the system

That's why we had to bleed the brakes too. We didn't even bother bleeding the front ones, even though that's best practice. Brakes felt fine though.

as long as the system isnt aloud to drain and no one pumps the brakes while they are open there is no reason to bleed the fronts. thats a long line for an air bubble to get to the front with.

Thats alot of words for the normal brake bleed procedure. I dont see where that one covers the OR pumping it for you. Or am I missing something

Not what I'm saying dude. I get it's from toyota but it reads like any normal brake bleed maybe I'm stupid. pumping and holding the brake then burping the line is the standard bleed unless they just wrote it differently.

While you're at it switch to DOT4 fluid, it's better due to 100 degree higher boiling point, just seems to stop with better pressure. I did this and it was and has been great. Only bleed by pushing the brake 3/4 down so you don't blow a seal (rare but it happens)

I have some dot 3 already but I'll do that when it starts to brown. This trucks brakes are great as it sits

Sounds good. If you run weight you can boil DOT 3...I have and it was a little scary

Yeah I've done it on a sport bike before very scary stuff. Fun fact. 5 wont mix with 4 or 3 it tends to gum up. I had to completely remove all remnants of the old stuff. Not such a bad deal on a bike where I could pull all the pieces completely off the bike. I couldn't imagine messing that up on a truck tho.....

Yah I read that Dot4 is the max any Toyota Tacoma will work with and even then some Toyota
    models can only take DOT3

I checked the cap and it says dot 3 or 4. Since its only got 1k miles on it I'm just going to top it off with what I have. I don't expect it to need much for those two short lines being swapped.

Yah, no worries. Next time you do a full bleed and replace it’s easy and under 1 hour
