So the tape that holds my two front fender flares is disintegrating, and my front lower trim panel is loose. So I carried my truck into the dealership today. They say the warranty claim process is that they have to send pics and a report to Toyota and once Toyota approves the warranty claim, the parts would get ordered and fixed. Is this the experience you all have had as well?

In general, I've noticed that dealers won't put in any labor until they're sure they're going to get paid. If there's question about whether it's covered, they'll wait (because their "only" alternative is to charge you for the labor).

Sounds about right. Should be okay unless they claim it's your fault.

Normal process, unless its something they have seen several of and know it will be covered. The dealer has to get pre approval to ensure they will get their money.

if its still in the 3yr/36k mile bumper to bumper, should be NO questions and they take care of it, i have not had any issues getting warranty work done..

That is the process or you can pay the dealer to do the work then submit an invoice to Toyota for reimbursement as the warranty is a contract between you and Toyota and not you and the dealer. The dealer is just an authorized agent to perform such work.

Did this with the battery on my 17 that was dead after a 14 months and 16k miles. Bought a trustart battery from Toyota, sent them a copy of the reciept via email and recieved a check in the mail.

I’d find a new dealer since the truck is within the 3/36 period... wait for pre-approval is BS dealership. If this is the normal Toyota practice (my truck is my first Toyota purchase experience), then this will be my last such purchase... my other “new buy” vehicles (GMC, Ford, Chevrolet, Mercedes) have always been quickly repaired under warranty claims.
