I've done 3 hubs on the wife's equinox. I can't imagine the truck will be much different. I'm comfortable with that. It is pulling the axle that would have me worried. I'm not sure if there is a certain alignment (timing) or just get the splines lined up and put it in. Either way not something i would attempt by myself. I'm hoping to put it up on a lift today before I go into my second job. If not definitely tomorrow.

I don't hear a click when turning in 2WD. Does 4WD have to be engaged to hear the click? I don't want to try that until tomorrow when i can get it on a lift, and not have both jobs.

    Armyhater...

You can do an axle! If you've done a hub, you can do an axle. ("If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" great movie quote) Not that there's not different things to be done... I'm just talking about confidence and gumption. Youtube a factory service manual, and having the tools... that's all you need to do most things. I'm not a mechanic, never "trained" in that manner. Father never taught me squat for tools and fixing things. Mostly just got my feet wet watching some friends do work on a past car. But Youtube and a FSM... you can do it!

Now what I'm not pretending to do is know what your problem is, its proper diagnosis. Leave that to more experience dudes who've commented on your post. All I'm talking about is whether you "can" do an axle. :muscleflexing:

^^^^ This makes me no longer feel like an idiot for asking about my issue. Also thanks to everyone who had some input as to what to check and what it could be. Putting it on the lift tomorrow, and hopefully figure it out.

Thanks John, i can't imagine it being too bad. I haven't beat the shit out of this one like all of the rest of them. I have actually taken decent care of this one as well with regular maintenance. My plan was for all major services to be done this year anyhow, some of them i know have never been done. The list keeps growing though. Hubs, MT fluid flush, rear ends flush, transfer case, u-joints, etc... I am really hoping to make the transition from DD to Hobby vehicle.

If your caliper is frozen from Ice being the rotor is spinning the heat from the friction would melt things.

In less then a mile .

Then it would still have the problem in 2wd

I am curious to see what you find if anything

Hey everyone, bear with me for this explanation.. ever smack your lips together and make a popping noise? I’m having that almost exact noise, starting slow then faster until it disappears. Every few accelerations/hitting the gas pedal to go. Any ideas? Not at idle/braking only when accelerating every few times.

I'm switching over from a car. Did you guys have to switch to truck plates or can a Tacoma fall under a standard plate?
