This one doesn't count so much... cause night shot. But the tree you see in it was about 20ft from me and the road was about a 1/4mi. BTW if you click on my photos or Ben's it'll show you in Flickr how we had our cameras set up @JKO1998

yeah that's the other advantage to a fast f/1.4 lens besides depth of field....they allow a lot more light into the sensor so you can take shots in the dark without necessarily needing to use a tripod, depending on how dark it is of course. Also depends on the sensitivity range of the camera sensor and the shutter speed of the lens which is a whole 'nother topic lol

Do you think it’ll be an improvement over what I’ve got now? Nikon Coolpix 7000?

This was a weird picture, I intended to take a companion daytime pic as well and never got to it. The picture is of the interchange here on the Inland Empire Hwy, but it was taken from the tall point on High Drive which is on Spokane's south hill, the height difference between the two is quite big so I was surprised when this image turned out at all. I used the truck as my tripod.

Which camera did you get? I just saw the lens you posted

If it's a DSLR with the ability to swap lenses then yeah it's a better setup than any point and shoot imo

Yeah it definitely looks dark enough to warrant a tripod, unless maybe you cranked up the ISO/sensor sensitivity but the higher that gets the more noise and contrast you get. Tripod or some kind of still surface and low ISO setting is the best way to go

I'm not familiarwith Sony cameras but I hear they're making a big name for themselves with them, it definitley looks like a better setup than the Nikon point and shoot

crazy how many megapixels they're getting in small cameras/sensors these days...I remember when I took my photojournalism courses in community college back in 2004/2005, we had a Nikon D1 I think it was, that thing was huge and it had a 2 megapixel sensor and it cost like $8k back then lol

What's a decent camera to get for throwing in the backpack or truck? Im out in the woods enough that it would be cool to take some nice photos. I've messed with the adjustable cameras a little bit but the least complicated the better probably.

And for all you ko2 haters earlier here's mine in their natural habitat.
