Isn't Grand Design more on the expensive/upscale side? I've been researching some (ok mostly watching YouTube videos) and the Apex Nano seems to be a good compromise in price, size, weight, and quality, and i especially like the idea of the azdel. I'm looking at the similar bunkhouse Nano model just a size up from @webdr as I'd like to get the tandem axles.

The Grand Design look great. Unfortunately as you stated they are quite a bit more, in the tune of 30k for the 20BHE.

I have a custom built high clearance tube bumper from CBI Off-Road Fab. The receiver and bumper are both tied into the frame in more places than factory and the receiver cross bar is larger and tied to two other 1 3/4" tubes. It is overbuilt, but I wanted it safe. And actually I would dare to say that any of CBI's bumpers for the second gen are stronger than the factory towing setup.

Oh believe me it has cost me lots to get it to the point that it is and be able to do it safely. For not only my family but for the others on the road. And there are side effects. MPG and top speed are the biggest. But the truck daily's very well, can wheel like crazy, is amazing fast up to 80, and in true Toyota fashion is extremely reliable.

Look at the Hideout, my buddy has the larger 27BHS, and got it for like $19k brand new. It is a damn good camper for the money. Yeah he has had to modify/upgrade and fix a few things, but for the price it is a great camper. He has had it for 4 years now. And we camp alot, between 70 and 100 nights a year.

I use the Equalizer 4 point sway with the 10k load and 1k tongue weight with 6 washers in the head.

Don't believe the listed mfgr prices. Some friends of ours bought one and didn't pay close to that. We were looking at the 21BHE and you can find them around $23-24k.

    https://www.granddesignrv.com/showroom/2019/travel-trailer/imagine-xls/floorplans/21bhe

Will probably end up with a Nash since they are 4 season.

I wasn't. Looking at rvtrader and subtracting around 2000 for haggling. Still between 25k to 30k for those. Even if I found one for 24k, that well over the 15k I have to spend.

When we bought our used 18 MicroWinnie we walked through the Grand D. Very nice for sure. We paid a Little over 15k for the Micro 2106ds but maybe a couple years older would be in that range. Good luck looking.

20190126_182204.jpg quick overnight Saturday. Balmy 39* at midnight. Battery died so grabbed extra sleeping bags. But the wife got us a generator the next day..so it was a win all around.

20190128_132251.jpg breaking in the new generator. 2000w peak 1600w running. Heater is pulling 1500w. Generator didn't bog or overload. Its lightweight and sips fuel in eco mode. Best of all, its quiet. 65 decibels right next to it.should run the furnace no issues. All inside lights are led and fridge is 3 way. Should really increase our camping options
