Removed my exhaust manifold in preparation of my replacement after it comes back from paint and I noticed a large leak that seems to be either oil or coolant. My oil level has not really changed nor has my coolant level.

I cannot exactly pinpoint an exact location where it is coming from. Maybe the engine block coolant petcock? The oil pump? I have never really heard of an oil pump failing or leaking on the 4 cylinder tacoma's....

Has anyone had anything similar to this?

Is there any liquid that you can feel to see if it is oil? Could it be something splashed from the road?

It might be just oil spilt from removing the oil filter and then just blown up the side of the engine.
Clean it really good and keep an eye on it, change the filter as well just because

Can now confirm that it is oil. Nothing from the road either because I have noticed it before from underneath the chassis

That's what I'm hoping. Recently did an oil change so no need on the filter. Might hit it with some degreaser and let it sit overnight and then wash it down tomorrow after work.

I thought the filter looked a little damaged in the pic. Not wearing my glasses so can't see that great, just cheap insurance

I have a 1995 Tacoma 2.7L, almost 300k miles. I had a leak in that area of the engine. There was a sizable oil mark on my garage floor. I first noticed that there was oil near the distributor. The O-ring was damaged, so I replaced it. The oil leak decreased, but there was still a small amount of oil leaking into the engine, but it was no longer falling on the floor. Then I noticed that the oil was near the pressure switch. So, I changed it but there are still small oil marks on the engine. The oil level in the engine doesn't drop, so I guess it's a small leak probably in one of the oil seals. I will try an anti-leak additive.

the whole oil filter assembly is bolted to the engine and there is an o ring between it and the block that can get hard and leak. I had to replace that o ring on my 97 2.7.
