Went wheeling this past weekend at Hidden Falls Adventure Park. Was Hella crowded, apparently there was some Huge Jeep event but it was still fun.

I did remove my front sway bar all together this trip and that thing is staying off !!! Huge difference offroad. Barely notice it's gone onroad. Slightly rubs when parking lot cornering now but a tiny bit of trimming will fix that.

    Anyways here's a few pictures. Good.jpg 20190119032849_IMG_8940.jpg IMG_7838.jpg IMG_7901.jpg IMG_7989.jpg

Thanks for the info, probably gonna take mine off now if it really doesn’t make much of a difference on road!

Just had to take the front skid down and it's a few bolts. Maybe 20 min total. Way worth it though.

everyone seems to say the same.. big difference off road, not so much on road. I wonder how that would translate in an emergency movement, like a hard turn to avoid a collision? Probably my only concern. Then again I drive slow lol.

    Who says he didn't? :notsure:

I was tempted to remove mine when I did my lift, but with all the highway I do, I was worried about the safety of it. Any feedback on highway driving? 70mph+?

I have mine off. I don't notice much difference on road, but it's in the back of my mind at 65mph. I'm sure it'll help in an emergency. I'll be putting mine back on at the next oil change.

In a hard to turn you will end up on your head wishing you kept them on. If you have a stiffer than stock suspension it could help with this but in my opinion it stupid unless all you do is offroad your truck .

Have you ridden in a truck with aftermarket suspension and no sway bar? There's a reason people are saying it's barely noticeable.

If you're in a situation where you roll your truck from making an emergency turn with aftermarket suspension and no sway bar, I'd wager to guess it would have happened to a completely stock truck as well.

People who are saying it's not noticeable havent done any Evasive maneuvering like object avoidance at highway speeds. The first thing you will notice is how noticable it is not having them and your head will be bleeding . My point was it's stupid but with an aftermarket ssuspension kit it's less noticable. And yes my 2012 had no swaybars and when I would hit a pothole or a dip in the road my truck would change lanes.

    YMMV I guess :notsure:

I'd be concerned too if I experienced what you did when hitting a pothole, etc. Ran no sway bar on my 1st gen for over 4 years with zero problems. Contemplating removing my sway bar from my 3rd gen with stock suspension and will definitely be removing it for aftermarket suspension. Got to have that extra travel it buys you.

From my experience removing bar with the squishy swaying characteristics of the stock setup, you're looking for trouble .

I had a truck with an aftermarket suspension. Even with the shocks at full stiff up front, I had to reinstall my sway bars after leaving the trails. Off-road suspension (especially with longer travel) is very different than say a car's stock/aftermarket suspension and even then they use sway bars to minimize roll.

But it could also be that IFS doesn't have much travel to begin with and ppl don't notice the difference.

Yeah, it's doubtful I'll do it mainly due to laziness. But I've already got extra weight from a 2nd battery, skids, and sliders so my stock front suspension is pretty taxed already.
At the end of the day I think it depends on what your goals for the truck are, your driving habits, and what suspension you have. With so many people out there running no sway bars and not hearing about them rolling their vehicle I find it hard to believe that it truly makes that much of a difference with how little travel these trucks have up front from the factory.

That's true, people have to adjust their driving habits. The more weight, the larger tires, and longer travel will make big changes on a trucks road manners. The third option would be, swaybar w/quick disconnects.

Sway bar has been removed from my truck since 77K miles (173K now) I've had to avoid a wreck once where the truck did a perfect 4 wheel drift at 75mph. No noticeable body roll. I drive 28 miles of 75 mph interstate each way to and from work 6 days a week. Never once saw a time where I wanted the sway bar back. I'm on 4wd #18, been in one for 44 years now (since I got my license) Rides better...Doesn't transmit shock from one side to the other when a single wheel hits a chuck hole....Performs FAR better off road. It would be extremely simple to put it back on...but no reason to.

Not so sure anyone has developed a working quick disconnect for Tacoma sway bars. I tried.... Bar gets in the way of suspension when disconnected. Almost 3 years without it and I have no valid reason to re-install mine.
