I fab'd it up from a piece of 20g aluminum I picked up at Home Depot. It uses the 2 bolts that hold the light on to secure it. To do it you have to remove stock review mirror and have one that glues to the window.

The plastic trim piece above the backrest snaps off to reveal the bolts for the backrest. Then you just pull the back wall panel off to get to the bolts for the jump seats

Might be slightly different on the later models with the updated interior, both mine are the early interior style. @m3bassman you ripped out all your rear interior, how does that backrest come off on your style.

Same thing. Snap off the long plastic cover below the window, then unbolt it.

Found out that the other 5 cylinder spark plugs are also questionable as far as the threads condition- you may remember that about 2 weeks ago, my truck decided to launch #4 spark plug, taking out the coil and the threads. I had to install a helicoil thread insert designed for the purpose. So now I have purchased 5 more inserts (NOTE: do not use the wrapped-wire inserts, use the solid body units) and will be installing them soon.

Anyone else had this sort of issue? I have had a couple guys tell me not to do it, "it'll ruin your engine". No, it won't- IF you fill the flutes in the tap with grease, and go slowly, removing the tap, cleaning it thoroughly and regreasing about every 2 or 3 turns. This will keep 99% of the chips out of the engine. Then blow the cylinder out with compressed air, and you ought to be just fine.

Arbs do not come that way, and have never been side specific. That why they use a trim packer

Ok dude... I'm not going to argue.

But 2 months ago, when I lifted a friend's truck with ARB springs, they weren't the same length. Longer spring went on driver side... No problems.

The ToyTec springs, on my truck, weren't the same length. Taller went on diver side, no problems.

I've never messed with King springs. I've lifted trucks with Kings, but the spring has always been already on the Coil Over.

    Im calling BS.

I've done like..7 suspension installs. 3 with OME springs and 1 with Toytec springs.

All the same length(with matched model number that is obviously 882s are taller than 881/883s ect).

Oh good to know that they were not the same length for you as well. I was agreeing with you on the reason why they had different lengths.
I wanted to share it up here cause all the other springs from them for Land rover and 4 runners I have seen were equal. Which if someone didnt catch then could cause a head ache. Looking at the measurements now, it seems they have compensated and the longer one is 1/4 past 395mm.

Edit:I am still stopping by arb and talking with them about it.

Go ahead and call BS. I specifically looked because the set of OEM replacements we're labled, and noticably taller.

When I did the ARB and ToyTec springs, I looked because I didn't want to have a problem. There was a taller spring, just not nearly as noticable as on the OEM spring. (About an eighth to quarter inch). So I put the taller spring on the side that has all the load (driver).

The two examples are just the more recent that have come up involving a non-coil over (Fox, King) that I've done. I've lifted 6 or 7 Tacomas in the past year 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen.

    OEM coils are side specific.

    OME coils are not.

    Neither at the toytech.

Coilover(kings/icon/ADS/Fox/ect) are not. Well..actually they are but only if you have resi's typically due to hose routing. Not coils.

Id chalk up the very minor difference you found with manufacturing oddities. Not intentional. Does it hurt what you did? Hell no. Likely helped.

But they are not designed to be side specific.

Just got off the phone with them, and both springs should be the same length not like mine. Feel free to call them,

Sure. But the coils aren't what dictates that. They come with the same length coil. Likely they already put a bit of extra preload on one for the driver side for you and if they have resis the fittings are clocked a specific way to route the hose correctly.

    Lol... No worries brother.

The ONLY reason I started catching it is those replacement springs had a big assed sticker hanging off saying driver on the taller spring. Ever since then I stand the coils next to each other and put the taller one on the driver side (but I always specifically check now).

The springs may not be "designed" that way. I don't know. But I've seen it with multiple brands and it hasn't been a problem.
