This is exactly what you pay insurance for. Nothing to feel bad about. We all make mistakes. It is nothing more than a truck that can be easily replaced and nobody got hurt. Shit happens.

Some of the comments above are so ignorant they don't even deserve a response.

I agree, disregard the haters, you should be used to that by now, after all you have been driving a 3rd gen.

Yes. Mine looks just like that, except I have analog HVAC controls and a manual transfer case.

I'm surprised being a limited, it doesn't have heated seats.

Lot of perfect people in here that never make mistakes. Smh.

That’s why you pay for your insurance. Shit happens.
    Good luck with the 4R!

Good grief, i have lost track of the dumb things that i have done over the years....most of those things were, thankfully, covered by the adage "God looks after fools, drunks and children' i confess being at least two of those things, ergo the apparent divine interventen. The rest....an understanding insurance adjuster and a patient wife. And most often bandaids.

I read the entire thread. I wasn’t making any accusations. I simply said that it didn’t seem the fire was that bad, as you said you are pulling parts off (because I read that the insurance company said you could as long as the OEM parts are replaced.) Also, while reading I seen a few people mention patches. You however didn’t say anything in regards to them other than they we’re in the house. So I guess perhaps I did make 1 assumption, that being that if they were in the truck before, and now magically safe inside, that perhaps it could of been suspicious. However you replied and said they didn’t stick to your headliner so they weren’t in the truck. So I take your word for everything. But perhaps you could see where I was coming from without having all the details. Anyways I’m not going to argue with you or try to get into a pissing match here. What happened, happened. Fortunately no one was injured, and insurance is covering the loss of the truck.

What does pulling parts off of the outside have to do with a small fire inside? He told the whole story, he said what he did. I am sure he will lose a lot of sleep over some stranger not believing him.

It's cool man. Just upset at myself over the whole thing. I had patches on there in 2017. But they kept falling off. So I took them down and are on patch mats in the house. Now the insurance company states they are paying for the extras I put on. I found all the receipts. But they are going to evaluate them and make a offer so we will see.

They are blanks there now next to the rear window control. They use a knob now.
