First post here and this is my 5th Toyota truck. Bone stock, except for tires and rims of course! I'm going to do some reading here and decide what kind of lift I'm going with, when these tires go bald.

In the beginning, thee were like just a handful of us that did it and those that didn't thought we were crazy. The 2nd Gen guys called us copy cats.

I am so glad I did mine back then. Definitely make sure it is heated up from either the sun, or a hair dryer. Don't use a heat gun, they are too hot. And if you have any residue left over or it looks like the paint is messed up use some of this:

    How mine looked:

I run the Ray 10s but mine are the Limited Edition Brushed Copper. I think the Bronze looks very good too.

Thank you sir. I don't know what to think of it just yet. I'm coming from my previous '06 Taco that was a 6speed and for some reason, this automatic doesn't feel as peppy as my 06.

Let it break in like you would normally break an engine in. Then once you get past that mark.......stomp the hell outta it. It will definitely get up and go. A lot of guys push the skinny pedal but not hard enough. You just mash that bitch and eventually it will get use to that style and will go every time. Mine will easily break traction if I wanted to. Tires cost too much. But when I need to merge, or pass, anywhere, no problems. Will it outrun a larger V6, or a small v8? No. But for a 3.5 liter it has enough spunk.

Now naturally the gearing is different between an auto and a manual but once you know what wakes it up you will smile again.

It does work but also destroyed my MPGs with my current setup in the city. I mean they dropped in just 30 minutes. But it does make you smile more.

What city mpg were you getting without using ECT?

18 if I took it easy. It dropped to 16 before I could get out of the city, and I was afraid to keep it on the highway up to to my house in the country. I have to admit, it is instant gratification though. Just not worth it to me. And I use a Redline Radar Detector for a reason........

Thanks for the response yall. I'm right at 1200 miles on it now and have been babying it. I would have gotten a MT, but couldn't find one in my area. I don't like how it upshifts so quickly. Maybe I just need to mash on it a little bit more each time I drive it!
