You basically sound like a cat

Whenever you're seriously in the market lemme know! We can grab lunch and I can give you my input on the various designs to try and help. I owned a RTT for a couple months and didn't like it, but I know what I'd do differently this time if I were to go that route again

Wife had the cat and it slept in her bed before we met. So if we close the door he screams all night. He hates closed doors.

Ugh. That sucks. My wife collects cats like beanie babies. We’ve got 4. We don’t have any howlers. But we have one that likes to claw at the carpet of the bedroom door. Bought a thing that’s made out of like, office chair mat material, that goes under the door. Doesn’t help you any. I shared it anyway.

Yea, it will be down the road so I am just in research mode right now. But I like to be prepared, and I like to drink alcohol, and do not drink and drive, and I'm too old for one day stands, so if I'm getting into this (wheeling), and obviously I am, I will be camping when I go. I'm sure I could withstand a night in the cab. I am not that soft. Cold doesn't affect me like most people. So........those Smittybuilt versions are sure a great price point. For someone starting out that won't be out there every weekend. Just not sure if I want it on the truck or on a trailer. There was a great cap for sale cheap in NY but I am not feeling a cap so much. I had one on my Tundra, and it was ok when I needed it. I have a utility trailer so technically I never really need the bed of the truck but I don't want to have to use the trailer to take my trash to the dump. That would be a PITA. So I am just researching right now. But would definitely welcome any of your input. Completely. Thanks.

Fri afternoon through sun mid morning. I travel to wheel. Hopefully maybe this summer Swisha loop, gotta go see our Canadian brothers! Possible Kentucky adventure trail. More parks Windrock, Choccoloco, AOP, Rausch, etc. I don't mind the drive it's the adventure that I am after. I have driven across the country like 6 times.

    Nice!

I used to love being behind the wheel on the road. Now after an hour I am bored, tired, my ass hurts and have to pee.

3 hours and I need a drink bad! Why I am looking at tents. No way am I going to make it driving 4 hours to a place, then all day bouncing around, then 4 hours home. I would be afraid of getting tired and falling asleep. I am old ya know.

    Too many to list.

You make me look bad. I usually just go to the last page of the thread. Usually.

Oh I've got Uhwarrie only 1 hr from my house. I may do Gulches for a day trip which is like 3 but after that it's a weekend trip to wheel. Hence why I want to build a trailer like what @BravesTaco has. I'm really liking the iKamper Skycamp for me and the kiddo. But I also have an arsenal of regular tents for when the RTT/trailer won't work.

My $.02 if you are going with a RTT on your truck is get bars or a rack that keeps the tent at or below the roofline of the truck and then rig a pulley system up in the garage to take it off. That way it keeps the COG as low as possible.
