I am thinking of getting 2019 TRD Pro. I have a few basic questions:

    1. Are the factory projector headlamps good at night? I drive daily at night. Do the Rigid Industries LED fogs help at night or are they just for show??

    2. Does the rear axle have extended breather tube or is it just a one-way cap on top of axle?

    3. Is the factory JBL system decent? I am just looking for good sound...balance sound. I see that it has "mid-tweets" in the front dash...is that like a coaxial?

    4. Silly Q...but on a freeway with tons of rain and standing water, does anyone here shift into 4HI or do you guys just leave it in 2wd?

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, I don’t have a Pro but I do have some answers for you.
    1. The factory headlights are just okay, lots of threads here about retrofits, HID’s, and LED’s.
    2. The rear breather should be extended if you plan on getting wet.
    3. Don’t have the JBL so no help there.
    4. 2wd is fine in wet Oregon on the hiway but on wet back roads I go to 4Hi a lot.

For all of your questions, it really depends on your baseline of comparison.

    1. The quality of the projector system seems good. There are complaints about stock bulbs and lots of forum members upgrade the bulbs.

    2. Believe all tacos come stock with it on the axle.

    3. Is it the same JBL that's in the premium tech package? (Edit: It's different than the "premium audio" package, so disregard this ) If so, it's not an audiophile grade system by any measure. For me it's adequate, but I mostly listen to audiobooks. Test it out in the showroom and see for yourself. Seach the forum for "tweeter upgrade" and "speaker upgrade". Unless the pro comes with a different JBL system than the premium tech package, consider it an entry level system by today's automotive standards.

    4. There's very little advantage to using 4x4 on wet roads. One could even argue that 4x4 makes handling worse by forcing the wheels to slip/hop unnecessarily. 4x4 may be useful when accelerating up to speed on the entrance ramp. 4x4 will not keep you from hydroplaning.

    1. You'll want to throw some decent bulbs in there. I use some LEDs off Amazon. $50 per bulb equals $200 for low and fogs. Well worth it IMO.
    3. I am actually impressed with the JBL system. It's the first stock system I've ever been impressed with. Coming from a guy that used to do competition stereo systems. JL/RF/etc.

They work fine. We don't get a lot of fog here, so I can't really help you on that, but I use them when it's raining and they definitely help me see the lines on the road better.

So at night, it helps enhance the regular headlights?

The diff breather mod will take a 13 year old with no mechanical experience about 30 minutes including putting the limited tools needed away. Of course that does not include the time it takes tearing him away from Fortnight. :)

Well, they're fog lights so they're not meant for distance. Depending on conditions, yes they can enhance the headlights. For normal driving, I leave them off.

    1. Headlights are not good in my opinion. I upgraded the low beams with Supernova v4 led. Complete plug and play and huge improvement over the stock bulbs.

    2. Rear breather mod is a good idea. Doing this as soon as the weather cooperates.

    3. I really enjoy the Jbl system. Good amount of Bass and highs are good. I’m not a audiophile but I think it sounds great!

    4. Don’t have any feedback for yku in this one.

The supernova V4 LED does not blind oncoming traffic?

Did you install a 2 way and if so, can you post the part number?

Not that I know of. I haven’t had anyone flip me off yet. I put them in on Monday so time will tell. There are a few videos on YouTube that show the brightness and beam pattern of these on a 3rd gen Tacoma.

If you install these, or any led, I recommend removing the two bolts that hold the washer fluid reservoir. This will allow you to move it back a couple inches to give you some extra space to work with. I think it took me 15 minutes to install both sides and zip tie the drivers and this was the first time I installed led’s.

Any upgrade led or hid in factory projector headlamps will throw light everywhere. I have morimoto hid in my 2018 offroad. I had to point them down not to blind people. I still get a few annoyed people flashing lights. But only from small low cars.
