Hey man! Small world I guess! I was on Passage Creek. They just stocked it today but I had already left. Hopefully the water isn’t up from the rain. Definitely want to go give it a try again now that it’s just been stocked. Where do you normally fish? I tried Happy Creek but it was raining like crazy this morning and I didn’t have much luck.

Sounds good man. I have a decent amount of free time this spring as I’m waiting to start the PA program in July so I’m just working part time right now.

I usually bass fish on lakes or Shenandoah river, but I trout fish too a little usually on Passage Creek too. I grew up in Fort Valley. My parents still live up there. They have 26 acres and the creek runs right thru it

That’s awesome man to have good access like that. I normally just fish the river around Stanley/Luray area. There have been some really big bass caught recently near Front Royal though. A 6.5 lb smallmouth and a 8 lb 15 oz largemouth. I have a magazine thing from Jake’s Tackle and the pictures are amazing to see.

I normally kayak fish in Stanley/Luray. There are some really great spots for big bass if you can pick out the areas that smallmouth like to be. I’ve caught and lost some damn nice bass in that stretch of the river that’s for sure. I’ve had a couple near the 5 lb range get off in the past few years. I can’t figure out with a crankbait with double treble hooks how they can get off so easy. Can’t wait until spring!

I do it a few ways. Either bake with lemon and herbs inside, Foley and bake or fry the filets. That’s what we are doing today. Don’t have a smoker. I would try it if I had one though!

Well come down to VA or WV. Both places have some decent ones. This place I was at today had decent ones, but I’ve caught bigger fish in other creeks recently. They stock all winter which is nice. Just gotta keep checking when and where they stock. These places get fished heavily when they stock for sure. I’ve been very fortunate this year so far so I am not complaining at all!

Were they from Passage Creek again? What are you catching them on?

I was at Wilkins this time. Using Powerbait. It was weird though, people around me weren’t catching much and if I spread my casts out to the sides not much biting. There was a sweet spot though I kept fishing. I stayed in the same spot the whole time. I had one get off right at the bank and missed a few others. They were biting really well today. Maybe the warm weather or something had them really active.

Anyone have experience with these socks/sleeves?

    https://rodwarriorusa.com/

Was considering trying a DIY neoprene protector/cover for the rod when in the rod pod but came across this product via a youtube video. Looks better than the typical socks.

My friend, you could not be more wrong! PA has more miles of wild trout water than many western states. Less than an hour north you have the lehigh valley with its abundant limestoners and a healthy population of some truly massive wild trout. 2 hours west near harrisburg you have spring creeks that rival the chalk streams of England. 3 hours west you have state college with penns creek and it tributaries. I am a fly fishing guide here in PA and I actually moved here specifically because of the states famed trout waters. I live in Schwenksville, very close to Hatfield If you need any help finding spots shoot me a message.

the lehigh river itself is an awesome musky fishery! must have been one hell of a big aggressive trout to hit a musky lure! I can t wait for the high water to subside so i can get out on the river after some esox. maybe ill see you out there. until then, tight lines bud!
