I agree and don’t think it will either but I do think they held back a little just to be sure. For years they thought they could convince people they really needed an F-150 but finally figured out that some people just like smaller trucks. Apart from ease of parking and wheeling, fullsize trucks are truly better in every way but I have always preferred smaller trucks. Heck, I’d take a smaller Taco!

I live in the city and our roads are narrow, so the Taco works, a full size, not well.
My driveway is only 7' wide. I just wish I could drop a sheet of plywood in the back without having to have it over the tailgate sitting in the wheelwells.

Every review I've seen on the Tacoma says it's a huge steaming pile and the Ridgeline is the greatest truck ever but no correlation to sales :jerkoff:

Oh I agree completely. The Ford will sell well. As I said, Ford knows how to sell trucks. The Wrangler is a CR punching bag every year but they seem to be doing ok. Someone forgot to tell Jeep the critics don’t like them.

Yeah, I don’t really care that my truck won’t pull a G cornering or hang with a Porsche on the slalom. But, I do wish Ford had gone all out and even dropped the 2.7TT as opposed to 2.3 and followed up with a Raptor version. That would have gotten Toyota’s competitive juices flowing a bit more and would have maybe moved the midsize market forward.

They are just getting ramped up, i'm sure if it sells well they will add special editions or a Raptor version.

I hope they do. Heck, I also hope Chevy drops their 2.7 turbo 4 in the midsize twins and that Jeep brings out even more editions. Then bring on the Ram Dakota that’s in the works. I’ve been a midsize truck owner and fan forever but this has been a mostly neglected segment. I’d like to see everyone get better and then see Toyota answer in kind.

Since Chevy is doing the 4 Cylinder Turbo Silverado, I expect to see that engine move down to the Colorado.

I agree, especially since the 2.7 is getting horrible mileage in the Silverado. It’s just not enough engine for that truck apart from another turbo or cranking up the boost some more. But, it would be great in the midsize.

Exactly, seems like a misguided choice for a full sized truck but midsized would be fine.

The Ford 2.7EB works because of the twin turbos but the single turbo Chevy stays in boost mode too much and while it has adequate power the mileage is far worse than the 5.3 and even no better than the excellent 6.2.

    Also the Ford 2.7 is a V6 and not a 4 popper.

"The 10-speed auto is generally a good transmission, but it gets confused easily in stop-and-go traffic, resulting in clunky downshifts."

"To say the Ranger's ride, handling, and noise/vibration/harshness are disappointing is to say the Super Bowl is a football game."

"The new Ranger is never settled. Its body is always moving, and as a result, so is yours. Bouncing up and down, tossed side to side, thrown forward or back into the seat. And that's the Lariat model. We drove the FX4 off-road model, as well, and it was even worse. Entering a driveway at an angle was guaranteed to send your head flying toward the door window like that viral video of the people in the speedboat getting tossed like rag dolls. You constantly feel like a buoy in rough seas. I actually crawled under the truck to verify that A) it had anti-roll bars, and B) they were connected (yes and yes). The Lariat is better, yes, but as features editor Christian Seabaugh put it, "If the FX4 is a 2/10 in ride quality, the Lariat is a 5/10. At least the Lariat doesn't make me carsick."

"Climb into the cabin, and you're reminded of that singular focus. The dashboard looks nothing like an F-150's but rather like a more upright version of the Focus', also designed by engineers outside the U.S. The dash-mounted power mirror control looks straight out of 1996, and the climate control buttons are small and mounted at the bottom of the dash where you won't be pressing them with work-gloved hands like you can in an F-150. The rear bench is the only one on the American market (midsize or full-size) that isn't split folding, so everyone and everything needs to get out if you need something from under the back seat."

"The reason we're so down on the Ranger is because Ford completely oversold the differentiation between this truck and the world market version. To hear the Blue Oval tell it, the U.S.-market Ranger is practically an all-new truck with all-new sheetmetal, an all-new powertrain, and all-new technology. Although that's all technically true, it's clear most of the new stuff was a necessity for American crash and emissions compliance, not a fundamental redesign to suit American tastes and expectations. It's a placeholder filling a gap in the product lineup until the next-generation truck arrives in a few years, designed with input from American product planners."

The mileage on the 5.3 is hard to beat, my Tacomas never saw 23mpg highway, but my Sierra does.

During my test drive, I also found the ride to be a little bouncy.
