1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Better be sooner rather than later, I had a buddy who's in welding class right now and we're talking about putting it together once he gets through the 10 week course. Haha.

 

We'll see lol. I need to give it a little bit of time to see how these next few weeks play out at work, and make sure I still have some semblance of job security for cash flow lol

 

I talked to a few vendors and the general consensus is that 1st Gens just aren't as popular, aftermarket wise, than 2nd and 3rd gens. Not much money to be made.

Yup hence why there are only a few big companies still making skids for our trucks. Budbilt, Skidrow and All Pro I think unless I'm missing someone

Long story behind it. Pretty sure I was going to be murdered and never found when I showed up at the meth house in the Santa Cruz mountains to buy it. Had to be a chop shop from the large number of stripped relatively new BMW's in the driveway.

90% sure it was stolen based on the sketchy guy I got it from, and the rental tag on the side of it.

 

That's used for the same generation Hilux too, which is still very popular in other countries. I'd say roughly 60% of trucks in the Philippines had snorkels on them.

 

The ARB clone one is cheaper and made for the 1st gen specifically tho

I couldn't be happier with my ARB clone snorkel I got for $98...that thing was a steal

 

Oh was it? The Hayafushi (something like that) one? I thought it was made for the Hilux 144.

Right, if someone would make a bumper for 1/4 the price of the regular shit on offered they’d make a killing.

2nd gens have that $600 shipped eBay plate bumper that's a clone of some other expensive brand....it could happen

 

Don't let these blokes intimidate you about the 3rd gen, some of us fine with them. Put the waders on though, crap gets kind of deep around here.

 

The Wotefusi is for the Hilux 167 and begrudgingly fits the 1st gen taco, 2nd gen taco, and 3rd gen runner, as well as 2nd,3rd gen pickups

The ARB clone fits 3rd gen runners and 1st gen tacos perfectly
