A TPMS rebuild kit contains replacement parts for the valve assembly. Like standard rubber valves, these components wear over time. The Discount Tire stores include them with the installation

Details: TPMS Rebuild Kits | Discount Tire Direct

Nearly all the Discount Tire stores have Road Force balancing equipment, which can be identified from the roller that is applied to the tire while the assembly is spinning - see the image below.

The Road Force number is somewhat arbitrary, though it may be used as a quick indicator that there may be something "wonky" with the tire & wheel assembly. Or in other words, the higher the road force number means you may need to take a closer look at the assembly as a whole, both the tire and wheel, specifically if it's calling for a lot of weight. 4.5 ounces for a 32" A/T isn't excessive, but anything over 8 ounces I personally would dismount the tire and rotate it 180° from the current position, then rebalance.

As far as stacking weight goes, this is typically done on narrow wheels when performing a Dynamic Spin Balance (A.K.A. 2-plane balance). With a Dynamic Balance, you want the inside weight no less than 6-inch away horizontally from the outside weight and visa versa (see the image below). This leads me to your comment regarding the weights being placed to one side... are the weights applied toward the inside front of the wheel (near the face of the wheel) and if so, are their clip-on weights on the back side of the inside barrel?

I have mine set to 40 all around, but actually just came to this thread to ask what other people are running them at. Any other recommendations or input from others would be awesome!

I run mine at 34, seems to be a nice psi.

40 psi on a light Tacoma sounds like it would ride like a dump truck. I run 36 front, 32 rear on my Silverado 2500 and that seems to be about perfect. For a Tacoma, anything over 32 would be overkill and likely to cause accelerated tire wear.

It is definitely is a bit stiff, but more a bit more responsive, and a little more efficient, at least in theory. Maybe I'll let them down to 36 all around, and see how that feels for a little while.

They are stacked on top of each other, towards the outside, not in towards the vehicle. No clip on weights. This dynamic spin balance done with a traditional machine or also a road force? Think I'll go up after work and try and have them 180 it and balance again, see if it's worse or better. If I can get this figured out, think the tires will be good.

    Thanks for the good info

Got lucky and got someone who knows a little at DT. What you have pictured in your post and same as they have is a hunter quick match, standard roller, no pressure. Said it measures rollout for high spots, doesn't apply 1200lbs of pressure.

Hunter Road Force have a much larger roller and overhead laser, see below. He said sales guys do that. Hmmm. Not sure what to do now...

Would anyone here trust Costco to mount new tires on new Ray 10s? We don’t have a DTD nearby and my success with some of the local shops has not been great - they aren’t careful and that’s putting it lightly.

I would say it is always hit or miss on places you aren't sure about. Go in to Costco, ask them questions on things you know well (in relation to tires), if they can explain it to you clearly, then I would give them a shot. If the question spaces them, then decide whether or not you want the headache like you've had with the local shops.

On another note, I was told by DT that aftermarket wheels tend to make these tires shake, as it is harder to balance them. Can't back that up though, just wanted to give you a heads up.

But on the positive side, going with Costco would be a good deal, so many people use them. Cheaper priced tires, life of maintenance, and I think they road hazard warranty the tires, where as at DT you have to buy it separately. Wish you luck.

Excellent points and thank you! I just bought tires for my GTI (grocery getter) so I think I’ll give them a try with it and then if it goes well maybe I’ll try the Taco. I just really don’t want my Rays screwed up. I appreciate the help!

I used the Toyota Dealer to mount mine brother, they were a little more expensive but it was done correctly which was worth it in my humble opinion.

You might also want to get the alignment in your truck checked too, mine suffered from a bad case of Toe Out from the Factory.

And if they screw it up I most likely have a better chance of getting them to repair, replace, or fix what they do. My dealer is also a Lexus dealership and the owner’s son told me last time they handled high dollar wheels all the time and that they would not screw them up. I guess I’m going to fork over some extra cash and maybe save a headache. I’ll let Costco do the grocery getter GTI tires and the dealer can do my Taco setup, especially since it has to go back to the shop yet again. Ugh. Appreciate the help bro....:)

So I know this is a Falken thread but I just ordered a set of new tires for my VW GTI late Tuesday night from Jake @Discount Tire Direct and they have already arrived at my home! Super fast service and, yes, they beat a very low advertised price from a competitor. I highly recommend them FWIW. Peace....

Mine were priced good from DT, mount and balance not so much. They lost 3 screws for my center caps and cracked two over tightening, TE stock wheels. Then told me they had a road force machine and would throw that in to get the sale. I asked if they had one before I purchased. In the past RF only thing that would make my duratracs tolerable. Got those RF across the street at the Ford dealer, our Toyota dealer has changed owners several times in the last few years and leave a lot to be desired. Ford dealer been there, same family for like 40 years. Like their service, actually bought my Tacoma there used, lol.

I've actually got better service from Sam's club, than the DT, but it's a new store, so maybe that has something to do with it...

Trying to decide on whether I want to pay for the RF across the street or just buy some tires from them and return these. Why can't anything be easy, lol

I understand where you are coming from for sure. Things for me are never as easy as just going to the nearest dealer and getting something done. Something always get screwed up and it really gets old. And, it’s hard to find time to go back to get the screw ups fixed too. We don’t have a DTD where I live yet but even when they open it’ll still be a new store and that can be both good and bad. I’ve found them to go above and beyond to try to make things right but they are not an option where’s I live so it’s either a Toyota dealer or a local guy that has a Road Force but I’ve never used him and just don’t know.

We're running 265 65 17's with inflation @ 32 fronts 30 rears empty bed.... seems to be a good match for ride quality, handling, traction and fuel consumption.
These tires are exceptional in the wet.

I agree that they are great tires but I don't think you are really comparing apples to apples. Tacoma with BFG's vs Work truck towing 7k lbs (assuming full size truck) with Falkens. The work truck is less likely to spin a tire in wet conditions due to the heavier load, not necessarily the tires. While the Falkens are grippy, you can't compare unless on the same vehicle under the same conditions. There's just to many other variables in play.
