I also had a bad experience with BFG KO2s on my Tundra. Wet traction was sub-par, tread life was absolutely terrible, and there were chunks of polyester missing from the sidewall after 10,000 miles. The Exo-Grapplers that I'm running now are much better and have done well for the last 36,000 miles. When my current tires are finished I might try these Falkens out based on the reviews that I'm seeing.

This was more of an apples to apples than you may think. My personal vehicle is an F-250 4X4 Crew Cab. My work vehicle is a Silverado 2500 4X4 Crew Cab. I was also only towing on two of the days, of the trip, the other 4 were without trailer.

DT manager called me and is trying to make it right. First he tried to explain they had RF machine, their Quick Matches. We discussed how that only measures rollout on the wheel and is not a true Road Force machine. He then seemed to understand they do not have a Road Force machine. Not sure if he was playing dumb too or just really didnt know. I am leaning toward him not knowing, he was convincing, but not sure.
I just find that hard to believe, that nobody in that store knows the difference and i have to explain that to them. But then again, new store, so who knows.

Anyway he about has me talked into trying some of the GY Ultra Terrains and me paying the difference. Said they have had good luck with them not coming back. New tire, since Sept or so, exclusive to them. Slightly less aggressive version of the Duratracs, is what they look like to me. I'm hesitant, do to the cupping my old Duratracs had, so he agreed to keep the old Falken's for me off to the side for a week. So i can go back to the Falken's, if the GY UT's end up being worse.

If they do end up being worse, i may just put the Falkens back on and give them another chance to balance and if its not better, take them across the street for a true RF and then go from there.

I am impressed with their desire to make it right, but not so much about the whole RF situation. Still not sure if it was a lie or ignorance. Neither gives me real good feelings, but willing to give them another chance. They are definitely trying more than most stores would, so i will give them that.

2 in. spacer lift, rear facing halogen spot lights, leer 100xr canopy, FN Fx Pro wheels in Matte Bronze. Falken Wildpeak AT3W 275/70/17 LRC. Lots of LEDs. Rear ARB air locker.
Second Edit: 275/70/17 LRC is now in stock with DT as well as some secondary online distributors.

Edit: just emailed discount tire and even though it says they're in stock on line (which it didn't even have them listed before), they are not, with still no ETA from the manufacturer.

I've searched the last couple of pages and haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Discount Tire has the 275/70/17 Wildpeak AT3W in load range C listed!! Looks like they're in stock, thought they'd be backordered for another month or so. About to order my Fn Fx pro wheels in bronze and get the tires installed at my local DT :) first major upgrade w00t w00t!!

So I'm going to have to get tires in the next month or so, really been leaning towards the falkens for my 2017 Sr v6 4x4 dcsb in 245/75r16. But my concerns are, I don't want to lose mpg, this is the only reason I have a Tacoma and not another tundra, I drive mainly highway but would like an a/t tire because the stock hankooks absolutely suck in snow. Also I see tons of people say they have balance issues on these tires, I wonder if it's more a function of the tire or the balancing (or people doing it), I will be running stock steel wheels.

Find a shop that road force balances and you should be good.

You can try the passenger rated P245/75r16 XL. I got these on my truck last week on stock steel wheels and haven't had any balance problems. They are more than 10 lbs lighter than the LT E load version and my fuel economy hasn't really changed.

Falkens website also has a nice table so you can compare the specifications of the various versions of these tires... if you hadn't already found it. Click size and specifications tab lower down on the page.

I'll second this. Based on comments I saw here I asked my shop to do this when they mounted mine.

Good choice bcgill on going with the XL version. That keeps the weight down. Also, I would agree with having the Road Force balanced.

Let us know if we can be of assistance.

Thanks guys, yea I had already looked at the tables on falkens website and knew I would buy p instead of LT's because I don't want the increase in unsprung weight over the p's and 95% of the time my truck is on road, mostly highway and with the hills on my way to work in west Virginia running 80 with cruise on it already has to kick down and pull about 3200rpms so I only see about 20mpg. thanks DTD I will be looking for the eBay cupon most likely and using DTD store when buying them.

And watch DT, look at the machine yourself. I had 5 different people try to convince me they had a RF machine, when in fact they did not. Including the manager and the district manager. When I explained to them their, quick match machines roller, measures rollout and is not a a true RF machine they eventually admitted they didn't have a RF machine. Not sure why they try so hard to convince people they have one. It's really kinda BS. Think it definitely helps their sales. They just need to bite the bullet and invest in one.

Your luck may vary, but even the rep on here posted a quick match machine and tried to pass it off as a RF. Sorry DT, but I shouldn't know the difference better than you...

Either that or it's company policy to try and pass these off as road force machines

Better yet, just use Hunters locator on their website. Don't take someone's word on it. Mine showed the couple in my town and no DT. I took DTs word.

Later called Hunter and they explained pretty easily what DT machines did and RF wasnt it. Rollout. They weren't too happy either about the false advertising from DT, cause it reflects badly on them. If someone thinks they're getting a RF and the results aren't up to par.

Anyway, just putting it out there. Sure not every location doing this, but getting the same pitch from several areas (DT on here, several employees in store including manager, and district manager 90 mins) from DT makes me weary.

It could also be possible that they simply didn’t know. I spoke with Costco today over getting my tires that I bought from @Discount Tire Direct mounted. I asked them if the Road Forced and they didn’t even know what that was. They use Coats equipment. From my standpoint, I don’t care as long as my rims aren’t damaged and my tires are properly balanced. My experience with DTD is that they are super helpful and above board. If this is going on in an isolated area then maybe DTD can address it and educate these employees. I’ve yet to have anything short of a fantastic experience with them. Best of luck.

I'm leaning towards them not knowing. Just seems odd to me they run Hunter equipment and none of them know, but them pushing road force at the same time. Everything else seems good. I'm willing to give them another chance. I even suggested they invest in one of the RF machines, as they'd have a good market for it at this location. Lots of military and oil field.

I do think if they’re saying they RF and pushing that and then they don’t even have it, DTD Corporate needs to know. But, I’m truly hoping it’s a lack of knowledge as opposed to a bad business practice. Based on my experience with them and until shown otherwise, I’m giving them the benefit of a doubt. I did find it funny that when pressed on the RF with my local Costco the guy ended up saying “I’m pretty sure we should have it, I mean we use Coats equipment “. He had no clue but I also bet a lot of these stores go through employees right and left. I was in line at the grocery store tonight and the store manager was running one of the only three lines open and she had two other managers on the other registers. She said no one will show up for work and she can’t keep help. I know that’s a bit off topic but it could be my local tire store, and maybe yours, is the same way.
