I'm in an 01. Way past warranty.

Last I heard 3-5K was normal for a full repaint. I really only care about the outside. I'm not trying to make it all look like brand new. Doors, panel, roof, tailgate.

    3-5K sound right?

I'll stick m 2 cents in here, because I have a 2007 that has the clear coat disease. I'm sure that @CarmenSanDiego can tell you what a total spray will cost - I know that one is not/was not in my budget. But I did do 2 things that are relatively cheap, and have turned out well.
On like the second or third "phase" of my album, I did a you tube "fix" that lasted over a year, and worked well. But I didn't go as "deep" as I could have, being too scared. So, small defects came back - but areas I hadn't touched also started to fail. So, I had a friend who has a tint/glass/light body shop, and he just did the doors, over the roof for me with new (and better) clear. That cost me only $700. I don't have a new picture after he blocked it this week, but I have a couple of it coming home after the spray. It looks like "new to me". Somewhere between my fix, and real repaint can get you a good looking truck.

Not blocked yet. Before, you only saw a blur, not a reflection. As soon as the weather gets good, this process will go into my album.

I have parked next to several 2007s with my same red, and bad clear. Mine is a gem in comparison.

If it just the hood & roof, I would go with paint & have them color match as close as possible. That seems a lot for a wrap. @CarmenSanDiego might kill me for saying, but years ago I did one of the ecomony paint jobs for the same reason. Last 15 years & looked pretty decent for under $1k, entire vehicle.
