The results were/are low for atheists, so I voted. I was a devout atheist for a short time and now I'm bored with it. I could barely finish "The God Delusion" when I was interested in the subject. I'm more inclined to read warranty cards now. I'm more interested in the presence and absence of religion than the details of religions.

I am a Christian. Christianity is the only thing that can save my sorry butt. BTW, I was born and raised Catholic but fell away from the Catholic Church. Doesn't look like I would ever go back.

I put my check mark in the "other" catagory because I didn't see Protestant on the poll ( I guess its still an active religion) I'm not religious, but I believe in God.
The problem I have with church & religious faiths in general is the hypocritic atmosphere that seems to exist in ALL forms of faith & worship,i.e; "Your religion sucks & mine rocks" attitude. & before anyone blast me with the ol' "Not in MY church" retoric well got news for ya skippy, YOUR church has it as well....

I see the masses that go to church on Sunday thing as more of a social gathering place than a study & teachings of ones religious affiliation..IMO

I'm a Christian. Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with God. I'm glad to see that there are more Christians on here than I thought. I really don't want people bombarding my beliefs or faith because I'm not doing that to anyone else. If you don't agree with me, that's fine.

Oh, and I was raised Christian. I am now 19yrs old and am old enough and mature enough to make my own decisions and still stick with these beliefs. Of course, there are things that I view differently now that I can think for myself and every church has its flaws; but the bottom line is that this is my faith.

There are dozens of widely accepted religions which preach about many different and contradicting topics, such as the creation of the Earth....they cannot all be right. It is impossible. And scientists have a very solid theory concerning how our solar system was created. Religion offers zero evidence of any kind.

Evolution is a fact. Stop denying it. "Faith" is not evidence.

Religion was created by those in power to control the masses, as well as to explain natural phenomena that science could not at the time. In all honesty, I view adults who believe in a "god" in the same way as I view children who believe in Santa Claus or the Easter bunny.

The majority of wars in the past have been caused by religion...yet all religions preach about peace and love.

I was raised catholic because I had no say in the matter. But now I am 110% Atheist.

I was raised catholic, was baptized at an early age, and received communion a little later on. I left the church, with my parents' blessing before being confirmed. I'm now an agnostic, I will explain why in the next paragraph. I do respect people that are able to practice a religion, and sometimes I'm downright jealous of the amount of faith they place in their respective views.

Now, onto why I choose to call myself an agnostic. These are only my views, I am by no means calling anyone right or wrong, including myself. I sorta like math, and the numbers to me didn't really add up. I believe there's a possibility of a higher power out there, and think it would be pretty awesome if that was/is the case. I guess religion to me is more like humanity's way of coping with the thought of death. I assume that a long time ago, someone was told they could be "saved" from death by "repenting" a certain way. What a great deal, if I live my life a certain way, I can continue on and things will be even better after I die. I also assume that along the way the ways to be saved and ways to repent were skewed, changed, adapted or what have you, and that's how different religions came about. My biggest gripe with organized religions is the "I'm right and you're wrong" factor. Wars, battles, and crusades over religious beliefs are IMHO worthless and absurd. The thought of anyone dying because someone else thought they were in the right because of something they believed to be true really gets to me. I'm 30 years old right now, and even if I live a long healthy life I'm already 1/3 of the way through it. The thought of anyone's life being shortened for religion.. I'm repeating myself and will stop there, but you get my point. Those are the most extreme cases of someone being right or wrong. Most of the other cases of right/wrong are annoyances. People who preach to me can be annoying too. Once again, these are just my views.

    Jake
