I was wondering if anybody knows what bolt sizes are needed? I bought a roof rack second hand and it didn’t include the hardware. As a bonus any mod suggestions for it once I get it installed? Thanks in advance

:facepalm:You guys are joking about the 15.7 and 19.7mm bolts being an issue, right?

It would be nice to know the pitch but the odds are in your favor with x1.0. Ive seen .08 and 1.5 but that's not too common.

As a reminder to anyone who reads this thread: seal the damn bolts! They will leak!

They have odd lengths because they are self-centering bolts with a conical section towards the tip. Toyota is just being accurate. No harm in that.

Someone else who gets it! Yes!

The quip was about questioning the guys who seemed to be concerned about finding a 15.7mm bolt, nothing about Toyota.

I'm neurotic about my work on vehicles anyway and I love how detailed their accessory instructions are. I mean, they gave a torque spec for the t20s that go in the plastic spacers for the bed extender and a spec'd sealant to use where you drill through the bed side for the mounts. I know that information exists on the engineering and planning level but I appreciate them bothering to put it in print at the retail level. Now, if they would do something other than scotch-locks everywhere, that would be nice...

I appreciate how precise they are as well. The frustration is trying to find replacement bolts. I have a couple stripped bolts (bought secondary rails) and it’s been an issue locating the right size. Toyota doesn’t sell the hardware alone and would have to buy the entire rail.

They don't? I'll look this afternoon. I'm trying to finish getting this dashcam installed.
Fastenal is amazing, if you have one locally. They're great for finding exactly what you want, no matter how strange it may be. Theyre an 8-5 kind of place, that can be frustrating though.

    All-factory options at this point.
YES to sealing the bolts, thank you sir. I have to de-install my rack and do just that, as I just noticed WATER dribbling into the CAB after the car wash, coming from where the seat belt slots are on the door pillars. I had noticed moisture on my seat belt before and now know how the water is invading. Thankfully my truck is fairly new so the fix will be in time.

I'm going to pick up a set of these. I stripped tf out of two of the bolts because i was using 1/2 sizes too small torx head. Had to use an easy out to get the bolts out.

I applied silicone instead of using the foam rings. Also silicone on top of all bolts.

Had mine installed and added silicone to all bolts. No leak so far. I feel confident it will prevent leakage. Only time will tell.

Edit: also added some foam purchased off Amazon.

The bolt on my right side seems to be stripped and won't tighten or loosen, but also won't come out. Do I have to remove the whole rack to get it out? I just grabbed a used truck and waited to move the cross bars, and now I don't think it's safe to put anything on it until it's figured out. I also don't have any manual for the rack or anything so I can't see the assemble of the pivot bolt area.
