    My trouble started yesterday when my 2004 Tacoma started spinning on ice in 2wd and I hit the 4High button without letting off the throttle there was a clunk and now I have no 4wd.What do you think I broke and what do you think it will take to fix it right??

    Yeah I've tried 4hi and 4lo and locked up the rear diff and I have no 4wd.I jacked the truck up so that no tires were touching the floor I then started the engine and hit the 4hi button and shut it off.I got under the truck and turned the rear drive shaft by hand but the front drive shaft doesn't turn.

    Did the 1st gens have a ADD on them? Mine was manual and didn't have a switch.

    The 1st gens do have ADD I had a 1999 with a manual trans and ADD and now I have a 2004 with a manual trans and ADD the 2004 has a button on the side of the T-case shift knob to engage or disengage 4hi.

    There is a 4x4 fuse and I checked it hoping to get lucky but it was a good fuse.

    My 2000 had manual tranny with manual transfer case. Manual locking hubs also.

    So on the 2004 the cv's turn all the time?
