At the time I thought I'd take them off and repaint as needed. I haven't done that yet even though they need it. Starting to think about taping and covering the truck with plastic and painting in place. If I keep doing that then I should have them welded.

I welded mine on, once a year i find a nice card board box paint can and get creepin. No gold metal flake or bag required.

mine are rusted in area's and I was going to try Mavcoat Rust Remover. I was also going to try a small amount of it on a Crosman pellet pistol and see if it messes up the finish. I have an old AK with rust spots on it and I want to fix it up. Or maybe old AK's should have have rust?

 

Quick wire brush to knock the loose off.

Ive been using Rustoleum Farm Implement paint. Not the spray cans and it works well. Wont stop the chipping from small rocks flying up but works well when not hit by rocks. Its pretty cheap too...like 30 bucks =for a gallon at tractor supply.

As for the AK....i wouldnt just use a rust convertor paint. Have to get something a bit more high heat for it

 

Wire wheel on the sliders, AK's should be gold plated.
