I will be moving to downtown DC for work. Unfortunatley, I'm thinking of selling my truck to get something smaller and more practical for city life.

It's a 2017 Limited. Among other mods, I've installed 5100s/885s and an AAL. If I look at trade-in value, should I expect any grief from the dealership for the upgraded shocks? I realize I probably won't get much value out of them, but will they try to give me warranty issues or other grief if I trade it in?

Similarly, I've got OVTune installed at 91 octane. Should I tune back to stock, or 1.05 87 octane, or leave it at 91? Again, would you foresee any grief from the dealership for this?

Any other tips/suggestions for getting trade-in value? Trying to figure out what to expect prior to talking with the dealership. Thanks in advance.

i dont have any experience in modding a truck but imho, i would try to sell it third party via Craigslist but those people are trolls itself.

It depends on the dealer. A lot of them customize trucks themselves before selling. They'll probably ignore the value of the upgrades.

    Leave the shocks... no harm.

Restore the factory tune and sell the OV hardware. Buyer will have to buy a new license.

    1) for DC, buy a bicycle and a metro pass, keep the Taco.

    2) mods add no resale value. If anything they reduce value. People like fresh, unmolested trucks.

Dealer won't care or give you any more for the upgrades. I wouldn't worry about the shocks, however, for the sake of the next owner, you should tune it back to stock.

Best not to own a car in D.C. or at least not drive it in there. Traffic is brutal.

Expect nothing for your mods. Return to stock tune just as a courtesy for the next guy. Sell your OV tune here.

Honestly, you want to take it back to stock as much as you can. If it is too modified from stock, they are going to send it to auction and give you auction trade in pricing for it. Dealerships do not want the liability of heavy modified used vehicle because they do not want to deal with the next buyer bringing it back trying to figure out how your vehicle is setup.

Get a Metro card & load it up. After that, Lime, Bird and Uber will get you around DC. The first two will put a smile on your face while doing so.

Keep the Taco for the weekend getaways

Are you living and working in D.C.? If so may not need a car to commute. But you should keep a car to get around on the weekend. The taco isn't too big for that area. I used to live in nova and worked in Bethesda. Commuted in an evo x. Great for snow but I out a lot of miles on it (60/day)

THIS plus... if your living in the burbs and commuting to work, study up on where the slug lines are. Free rides in/out of DC as trade for extra person in vehicle to meet HOV requirements... also do homework on proper slug etiquette before riding
