What car washes are you going through?! Took my gen2 through regularly, never had paint dulling or swirl issues. Gen 3 will also go through. The only thing I do is avoid the ones with brushes and I don’t let the tracks bump me around. They aren’t train tracks and it’s a truck that lives in harsh winters and summers.

 

I use a touchless wash most weeks - have a subscription for unlimited that costs me $25/mo. I still go around and hand dry whatever the air dry doesn't get, and hit it with some quick detailer or spray wax after. Then hit all black trim with 303. I don't do a wash that includes any wax b/c of the affect waxes have on black plastic trim. Every few months clay bar, polish, and hand wax in an afternoon. then my weekly regimen takes me 30 mins max and my truck still looks practically new. Silver helps

Have never been in one ,have my truck for 11 years !

 

It’s hand wash or nothing . 2 bucket method , 2-3 times a year clay bar ,and about 3-4 coats of wax a year ,by hand !

You guys must have shitty car-washes. The ones I use are completely touchless without any tracks. The only thing touching the paint is liquid and hot air.

 

Some things are best left to the pros...Just saying

I "barehanded" mine today in my driveway at 34*F and gusty winds. No ground-in dirt and salt against my paint from others cars before me. Heck, I even did the two bucket method.

 

I can definitely appreciate you all that put the care in but I gave up on it years ago. Much less stress when I eliminated being concerned about vehicles.

 

Hand jobs are the best! Mine will get one tomorrow.

 

Our local car wash is awesome. We have unlimited passes for the family since I don’t want to ha d wash four cars. Each one goes through at least once a week - especially in the winter to remove salt - and we’ve been doing it for the last 7 years. Honda, Toyota, BMW, and Land Rover... all paint in perfect condition and no rust on the undercarriage.

Find a good company and you won’t have any issues. Unless it’s really cold outside
