Do you use Entune? Am I missing anything?

You're asking about the phone app right?

As someone said once they got rid of Pandora from the head unit, I deleted the app from my phone and haven't missed it a bit. I thought the head unit would need the app to do the web search function, but it doesn't. There is virtually no need for the phone app.

Just to be clear, I have never put the Entune app on my phone. My phone pairs with the head unit and works flawlessly for the past 3 years answering voice calls and reading text messages to me.

I will use the head unit to check the weather (info is receive over the HD radio I believe) and the head unit nav works fine when I enter a unfamiliar address.

Entune is clunky. The only thing I use the app for is to set an address before I go so it’s there when I get in the truck. Literally the only thing but hey, at least it’s something.

The only reason I liked it was because of the Pandora app, just liked my stations and up to date album art. But once that was gone. Bye bye! Slacker is on there but meh..

This. Toyota should be ashamed of themselves for this software. Most useless infotainment software ever. Throw away this Entune stuff and give us Car Play

I got the sr5 base entune.

Useless as tits on a boar.

The premium version has mapped GPS. My shit has turn by turn instructions like it's 2006.

Basically a sleazy selling point by Toyota, in my opinion, to make you think you're buying something modern and up to date while they worked their shit out with apple play. Wasn't till I got home and started connecting my devices that I realized it's basically dog shit.

When I first bought my Toyota I looked at the Entune interface and felt like I was in the past. I honestly don't know what it's good for. It's either XM or bluetooth for me.

Glad I've read through this thread. My TRD is now two weeks old, and I was struggling to find a use for any of the apps. I have been happy with Waze and my bluetooth access to phone. I'll stop before resorting to the owner's manual study course.

Loved it so much I ripped it out and replaced it with an aftermarket hu before it even got dusty.

I ripped the whole stupid unit out and put an android head unit in there, basically, so I could use parking apps, Spotify and Waze.

It turns out that it sounds better too.

    That Entune thing is junk.

Same here, these apps or all apps are just there to collect marketing data that can be used or sold to others for profit, thus most are offered for "free".

    Now where's my free lunch!

The phone app is pretty useless, not to mention it logs you out about every other day which gets annoying. But I may be in the minority on this in saying I like the navigation. The voice command system hardly ever misunderstands me and it has never directed me in the wrong direction

I’m just waiting for someone to rip the new entune suite out of a 2019 Sienna to see if it fits in the Taco so we finally have car play....

The Nav is terrible for me. The voice command gets it wrong every time, all the time.

Got a link to your Android unit? I used to rock an "Atoto" in my Civic before I crashed it. Nothing like native Google maps hooked up with a physical GPS module in your dash.

I too remember all of those apps! Says something about my age..... I'm still new to the Tacoma and Entune but have found the nav and bluetooth features to be satisfactory. Car Play would be a plus.

The entune navigation works ok if you type in the address, but the search function is pretty clunky.

Android auto would be a huge improvement.

I'm in Europe so nothing works. Even the radio tuner can't quite pick up the channels since everything thing here is on the even number (99.0, 99.2, etc.).

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
It's just a marketing exercise to make it sound like you are getting something useful. Looks good in the brochure and on the sales floor, once you get home the disappointment starts to sink in. I wanted it specifically for the Pandora interface and they took that away.
Where's my rebate for REMOVING FEATURES Toyota????
    There, I feel better.

I have a Pumpkin ND0289B which is pretty much just a standard Chinese Android unit with no DVD. It was around $200 on sale for the holiday. Then I needed some special cable adapters for the GPS / radio / Sat antennas, and I had to solder up my own for the OE backup cam. I used a Maestro RR with a Toyota harness to make all the factory stuff work (so no buying extra cameras, GPS's, etc) and hooked the steering control wires direct to the unit to use it's own mapping capability so everything on the wheel works like it should. I also bought a BT OBDII interface for $7 so I have OBD Fusion/Torque app working.

It wasn't as straightforward as I had hoped but I got everything working for right around $400 and probably 6hrs of my time futzing around figuring things out, soldering and so on. I get the impression that if I had spent more time upfront on the Android audio forums reading Toyota installs I'd have had a much easier time.
