Favorite Whiskey?

Nice! I saw a bottle in my local ABC store last week, first one I've seen in the wild.

 

I know this was a couple days ago, but my first single malt was Ardbeg 10. I loved it immediately. Smelling it reminded me of a smoky campfire by the ocean on a cool dreary day. And I knew nothing about Scotch at that point. Laphroig 10 (my dad's favorite) is more medicinal smelling/tasting to me. That Bactine soaked band-aid, if you will.

You either like Ardbeg or you really don't.

 

You can say that again...It's love or hate on that one.

 

This week's Friday Flight... earned after just cutting up my wife's 5th gen 4R to fit a dual swing out CBI bumper tomorrow.

Man I don't know what it is... but I've cut fenders for 35s, quarters for multiple bumpers... but that damn snorkel cutting is by far the most nerve racking! Looks good

 

Thanks, hole saw got away from me a bit but luckily it’s hidden lol

Tomorrow I finish the snorkel and I’m keeping the flares off cause I’m going to go ahead and cut for 35’s while it’s apart

 

Nothing too fancy but on a budget this does the job for me, pretty similar to Jameson.

Just picked it up myself. Haven't tried it yet. The McGregor fan in me forced the purchase.....

Whiskey in green bottles is just wrong.

 

I sent my friend one of those glasses and he said "Why doesn't the bullet have rifling on it?" I said good point.

 

Glenfiddich 12, Ardbeg, Glenlivet, craggenmore, why you hating! There's some good stuff to be had in green glass. Kavalan concertmaster (port finish) too.

 

Went to a friends place for a drink last night and he had a bottle of Michters. It was surprisingly one of my favorite things I’ve drank in a while.

 

Now THAT would make it really authentic

 

I always keep a bottle of Michter's Sour Mash in the cabinet.

 

that was also my experience, pretty much exactly as you describe. and I've missed Ardbeg since. went to buy another bottle of 10yr and got distracted by Corryvreckan on sale and got that instead. that was a mistake for me... anyone actually like Corryvreckan? either I'm not worthy or it's just not so good. either way I'd call it inaccessible for a casual whiskey drinker.

 

Headed to a private tasting event tonight. The guy's house that I go to is home to the second largest whiskey collection in Texas. It is 1,100 bottles strong and growing.

Tonight, the brand ambassador for Macallan and Highland Park will be there, so I'm looking forward to sipping on some good single malts.

After that, we hit up the host's stash for a little fun. I'm just in charge of the BBQ .
