I have had the Core-Shifter for the 2016+ V6 Manual Tacoma installed on my Tacoma since December 26th - one month now. I waited to post until I had sufficient time using the shifter. You can purchase the shifter here:

    https://core-shifters.com/products/...2016-2019-v6-4x4-rc62f?variant=21350990610550

I worked with Core-Shifter to help develop the shifter by providing installation/removal feedback along with sending them my stock shifter setup for detailed measurements. I am not affiliated with Core-Shifter in any manner.

Installation is pretty straight forward if you follow Core-Shifters directions and the Toyota Service Manual. I have made a supplemental installation document to help and provide more pictures. This job is pretty straight forward only requiring fairly basic hand tools.

The shifter went together great and works flawlessly. Reduction of throw is around 32% in all gears. Side to side gate reduction is also reduced greatly ~ around 42%. Reverse throw is also reduced. Effort needed to get over to reverse is increased - which is a plus if you have found yourself accidentally selecting Reverse instead of 1st in panic gear changes from a stop.

Gear noise is picked up by the solid shifter. This may be an issue for some, but not for me. Its a steady mechanical noise and is easily ignored/adapted to. The radio easily drowns it out at a moderate volume level.

Quality is great and I like the way it looks in my Taco. I opted for a white knob because I have a Super White truck. Shifting is precise and a nice positive feel and sound is present when selecting gears.

If you have questions on the shifter or you purchase one and need assistance in install - ask away. I'll monitor this thread in between work and a 3 month old baby. LOL

just duplicating my post from the mt bs thread to start discussion here...

@RedBeard1 posted this yesterday but didn't say much about it. i have the URDss kit and like it. but i would pay for more mechanical feel. the key is if i can use an arm extension and custom knob on Core's arm... do you know?

This mod just went to the top of my list.
    I'm glad they make one for a 2nd gen 5-speed 4x4.

3/8 on 16 threading for the shift knob. The base should be able to take any Hurst stick as they all appear to use the same bolt pattern.

I’ve had mine for years, it is simply the best short throw shifter option for a manual transmission Tacoma that is out there.
I had the OEM TRD short shifter kit, then a URD short shifter kit and now the core kit.
The Core kit is hands-down the superior product.

Granted, my set up is a bit different than most people, I have a triple stick set up with a crawl box and a manual shift FJ case.

thanks. just sent them an email, also checking if they have or know any extension solutions beyond a simple coupling nut (which is fine if that's all that fits).

Yup. I had a Core-Shifter in my Ranger in College. I had a wide-body WRX with upgraded shifter bushings and short throw lever. It didn't hold a candle to the Core-Shifter.

    Very nice! How’s the reach?
Now we need to see if @7r41lbr34k3r can make a thread adaptor to use with his knob.
I will never give up his knob

just looking through those. i finally have my stuff set where i like it, and now I'm looking at replacing all of it. i think I'm gonna need to spend some time getting accurate measurements and checking all the available parts to do this right. so many options..
