It’ll be a couple of months before I drive this thing anyway. I have a lot going on with it right now.

Also a big talker. Getting ready to grind on it right now...

I BELIEVE it it just gets too wide as the insert piece goes up. I’ll let you know in a few.

It's a fine line between making the parts beefy enough to be strong and still having the proper clearance to work smoothly. Looks like the shifter lugs are just a bit too beefy.

Yeah. No need for it either. They’re 1/4 thick FFS. No reason to have them be so wide as they go up.

Where the shift rail the driver side needs the numb ground off. The "fatter" style shifter ends run into this issue. Had the same thing happen when i did the triple stick relocate going from a fror twin stick.

Thanks Greg. Grinding dome material off of the shifter end took care of it. It’s all working together now.

I suppose, since I bought these knowing I was going to have to cut them up, doing a little grinding there isn’t a big deal.

I’m just glad to be rid of the crappy Low Range sticks TBH.

After posting I seen it may of been too late , but went threw that exact frustration before I read the directions and seen that numb on the d.shift rail was the cause for the interference.

Take that shifter base apart, lube the section in between the shift rail nub and the shifter handle then reassemble with some rtv and then chase the threads and loctite those small allen bolts dont want those loosening and falling directly into the tcase.

Absolutely. I already thought about those bolts falling into the case.

Thank you though. THAT would be a bad day.

Thanks man. I’m glad I got over my hissy fit and just took the grinder to it. I got the sticks all welded up.

I was thinking about moving them over to the “coin slot” next to the auto shifter, but I liked them where they were. I put them back up front.

I did place them better this time around. It helps when you’re doing the job yourself. The last time, I hadn’t started welding yet. I had to con the yard guy at work into doing it for me. It came out fine, but the shift knobs didn’t end up exactly where I wanted them. They were too close to the auto shifter to use the big RST shift knobs. I ended up giving them to @stairgod and using the smaller ones that come with the Low Range sticks.

Those old, leaky, annoying, Low Range sticks did come in handy. I cut the bent shift handles off and used them to get the new nobs where I needed them to be.

These RST sticks aren’t any shorter throw than the old Low Range ones. I’m a little disappointed about that. (See video)

I put a nice deep bevel on all the flat parts.

Anti spatter to keep the moving parts from getting burnt up. Especially the O-ring grooves.
    B3A27425-530E-4AA9-9482-43DAD0702A48.jpg

I had to move the H/L stick inboard to clear the auto shifter tower. I had clearanced it heavily prior for the old sticks. I don’t think you can cut anymore away from the tower without hitting important parts...

Stubby wrenches are perfect extensions for this location. Just tacked here.

    Fully welded
    BCD86AD6-A4FF-4891-9D0E-94B6C4B0223A.jpg

As you can see here, the H/L sticks arc takes up all of the available space in the cubby. I had to clock the wrench, and place the curved stick in just the right spot to work. Luckily, I don’t have carpet in my truck, so I felt comfortable tacking the shifters together in place.

It’s been a couple of hours now. I haven’t seen any smoke... I think it’s safe to call it a day and go inside. I’ll tackle final assembly and floor sealing tomorrow.

Even better. The bolts holding the shifter cover to the base are just 1/4 20 Allen heads. Same as the Low Range sticks. The Low Range base is thicker so the bolts were longer. I used those.

Lock washers, lock nuts, AND thread locker. That ought to do it :D

They say overkill never fails! I like the redundancy, the only thing you could add is a tack weld on each nut!

Does anyone have the stock single stick shifter they wanna part with? I’m gonna stay with single stick if I can not actuate the ADD and just put the tcase in low and be in 2low that way. I’ve got the tcase it self just no shifter assembly

Boogyman, I ordered my case direct from RST with the twin sticks. Sorry can’t help you. Maybe check out a scrap yard...
