Nice no problem man, glad that worked out. Those short fast taps jar things loose in a hurry. I would throw the yoke in the garbage and by a new one. Those needle bearing cups need to go in straight, square and be a light press fit. Otherwise they will get scewed and trashed out in no time. You can get good ones for 30 bucks each new I believe.

Edit: look more at the race inside then the casting. The casting you can dremel down clearance surfaces for a high angle ect the race and surface damage is bad.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

It looks like the lip that is on the outer edge (that allows for the cap to be set in before pressing) is where it is mostly oval.

But where would I look for a new yoke? If I need to replace.

Also, fortunately this is one of the rear driveline yokes. And this is not the driveline that I'm currently needing to run. This is the driveline I bought because it's the right length (6 cyl, auto, 4x4) for my swap. I have my Prerunner yoke, if I need to use it.

Ahh then its a spare or paper weight. I used the wrong term thats the flange. I want to say Marlin use to sell them, but Im sure you could find online seller. Just make sure the hole pattern and intended needle bearing cup dia are good for what you have going.

It was about $770 for a rebuild, honing cylinders, new springs, new shafts and clean up. They cut me a little deal but still very happy with the end product

With the clutch engaged in neutral, how would his throw out nearing be making noise, it wouldn’t have any load on it??

A throw out bearing like any other bearing makes noise or the most noise with a load in it.. so in neutral, clutch pedal down, should make noise, then disappear or drastically quiet down when the pedal is up.

OP, your problem sounds like it is a failed PILOT bearing/bushing. That is the bearing/bushing pressed into the rear of the Engine Crankshaft that supports the tip of the input shaft.

I highly recommend you pull that trans ASAP to address it and don’t put it off. If this is the case, the failed bearing/bushing can wear through hardening on the input shaft and that will mean you’re paying for an entire trans rebuild and replacement Input shaft for a $15 part..

Obviously thoroughly inspect your clutch and replace the throw out bearing with a quality replacement while you’re at it.

Yea either way pilot or input shaft means pulling the transmission to fix it and see which one and I guess installing a new clutch and all that stuff and a rear main seal since I’m in there.

Started up the Taco this morning and got a new clicking sound.. Any idea what this could be? Not throwing any new check engine lights yet.

Replaced the OEM bed stickers with aftermarket ones. I dig the different look now. The 20 year old OEM stickers where a bitch to get off tho.

Have you tried using a long screw driver as a stethoscope (or an actual stethoscope if you have one) to try and pinpoint where the ticking is coming from? Sounds like it might be from the valve cover area which could be vlaves, injectors or who knows what.

Yup it does or use a long piece of vacuum hose to listen to where the noise is coming from

    @2002Tacoma4x4
The J59s are not the wheelers. They are Deavers. Wheelers designed a 8 pack that could handle more weight than the J59s and have a comparable ride. The wheelers are also made to provide 1.75-2” of lift per wheelers website. When I got my new truck I went a different direction.

I want probably 1/2 to 1” of lift on my new setup. I’ll probably have to get a custom set made. I really want a spring under setup so I can get plenty of arch and sit closer to 1/2” above stock. And spring under supposedly brings the center of gravity lower and I think I’d prefer that since I do a fair amount of driving.
