For some reason this unexpectedly accelerated the corrosion for me. Through the dozen or so cars I have owned throughout my life in several different climates, this is the only one that I've had where a battery corroded. The terminals corroded, the cable ends corroded...

Baking soda, vinegar, etc. removed it but it came back. Professional battery cleaning product, preventative, and the battery post pads have kept it at bay.

Yep. Here is the code to enter. Just put the X2 in the cart and then use the code on checkout.

All finished. Got the terminals all neutralized with baking soda and water mix. They fizzed like freaking crazy. The battery hold down soaked in solution, same thing!!! All repainted and new X2 battery installed. 12.78 volts testing and the truck turns over like a madman!!!

Agreed. I took a picture and was looking for it but it basically looks like everbody else’s corrosion issues.

I have been using Fluid Film for thirty some years and was surprised at how quick the corrosion set in and spread.

So the 27F x2 battery from batteries plus fits the factory tray and hold down without any mods?

Yes the battery tray you can just not use because basically its just a cheap plastic tray and these batteries wont leak like a regular battery..

It will overhang the stock tray but still fit, if you are OCD about it fitting then get a 2nd Gen with tow package tray.

My WalMart Everstart is only a little over 2 years old and is sitting at 12.2V and had a hard time turning over last time. I wonder if WalMart would exchange it for a new battery?

I had this on my wife's Expedition. Only vehicle to ever do this (I've had 30+) and I went through a couple terminal's because the corrosion ate them. Upon close inspection, the battery post wasn't fully seated into the casing, so I believe what was happening was either acid and/or fumes from the chemical process in the battery was coming up through the post, causing the corrosion. I replaced the battery and haven't had an issue since. I was using the spray and the anti-corrosion washers. Nothing helped, except replacing it.

Thanks, I may ask an associate before bring it in, with a 3-year warranty it should be still covered.

They've been referring to wet cell lead acid batteries as maintenance free for many years. They are indeed maintenance free if you just want to buy a new one every couple of years. Otherwise a few minutes of PM will help it last longer.

Nobody seems to like doing PM but it is a cheap and easy way to protect your investment.

Pulled the trigger on the 24F X2Power before the 20% off code expires next week. Happy with the purchase. Dumbfounded though why Toyota welded and set a fixed height on the rear j-hook of the hold down bracket instead of keeping it threaded like the front j-hook. Seems limiting if you have a slightly taller battery.

Im in the market for a new battery, really leaning towards the Northstar. Question is, are you happy with it? Pros/cons? Worth it??

I have the group 31 X2Power version of the northstar. Can run my fridge, camp lights, etc for a couple days and still confidently start the truck. Considering me and my friends can find ourselves days away from help if you run outta juice, that's worth it by itself.

    Pros:
    CCA is double the oem
    deep cycle
    lots of reserve capacity

    Cons:
    Heavy AF (depending on size)
Need a cage or a different battery tray depending on size
May need to toss it on a battery charger every 6 months to a year since our alternators don't really charge at the level needed for AGM batteries. That said, I have had mine for 1.5 years and not had a single battery related issue.
