For those with Cav Blue and thinking of a shell, here's mine with a Leer 100XR I had installed today. Personally, I'm a fan of a shell on a truck. I wanted rear & side windows without the rubber molding, but those where around $2500. This was a good compromise. Just side molding and no rear.

I paid $1892 installed in So. AZ. Another local shop quoted me around $400 more. Mine also included the free fold down window being offered by Leer for the Month of Jan. (makes cleaning your rear truck window easier). I took off the Leer sticker and emblem from the back window. The side emblems seem to match the TRD 4x4 OFF ROAD sticker fairly well.

I don't know why, but the ride home with the shell seemed smoother than without it. I also like how it keeps the sun off the back window. But with two layers of tint (both rears), it's going to be dark looking out the back at night. Good thing I have the back-up camera.

I was told that it won't be water tight. Also the 4 bolts that clamp it to the cleat rails (no drilling into your truck required) seemed a little thin. But I'll assume Leer knows what they'e doing.

Here's some pics. Truck is stock.

    Looks great!

I had one of those on my last truck, make sure those clamps stay tight, it can loosen over time/off roading and start scraping bed paint! Maybe not 100% waterproof, but I think mine was pretty good, can always shoot silicone where you notice something coming in

Looks great! I had one of these on my last two trucks and loved the cap. I planned on a tonneau cover for my taco but your setup has me rethinking my plans... Nicely done!

That's why I posted picks. To help others see how it will look and with their decision process.

I also thought about a Tonneau cover (and it's cheaper), but having had both in the past, I get more use out of a shell.

Does the shell have the ability to mount a roof rack too it?

According to Leer's website, I believe it is an option. Not sure if aftermarket will work, or if you have to order it from Leer.

They previously had a deal with thule where you could get them on the cap when ordered, and it's a good amount cheaper than buying them and adding later.

Love it! Was thinking the same thing for my truck... With my last shell, I built a deck out of aluminum with drawers for storage underneath and then had dog crates side by side above. It worked out great.

With the color matching, do you buy it a standard color and they paint it after purchase, or do they manufacture it in the specific color in advance for the trucks they fit?
