He is looking at a taco that has a new frame under it. It’s only to plow his house and a rental property they own. But I would agree the taco is not the best plow truck.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
That would be fine for plowing a driveway or two. A lot of people do them with atv's with good results so a Tacoma would be just fine.

That is fucking awesome. Getting my tracks on my ranger is a PIA, even if it is pretty easy in reality. If I could just drive up and latch them on that would be fantastic! I bet these things cost a shit ton though...but so did my tracks so I'll check the price tag out.

Booked our rental for MT last night, got a Taco with a GFC on it. Gotta pay $100 extra to use the GFC in the winter and we won't be doing that. Wanted a 4x4 though so we can go off road a bit if we need too (there isn't much snow where we are going right now) and it was surprisingly much cheaper per day than the 4x4 jeep options and subarus I was seeing.

Either one would make a decent plow truck for small areas. Honestly, the Ranger isn't a bad truck. I bought one for my daughter - 2006 sport. If the area he's looking to plow is relatively tight like a city or suburban type driveway, a shorter wheelbase will help maneuver around. I used to use a CJ5 many years ago. Got into areas that a full size couldn't. Also, and I'm serious, Ranger parts are cheaper. I just bought a transfer case shift motor for my daughter's for $100.80 on Amazon. I realize this is a Tacoma site but it would cost him a lot more to get a similar mileage and condition Tacoma versus a Ranger.

With that, I use a quad for my 80' driveway... Bought a 1988 Polaris Trail Boss 4x4 several years back (actually was free - inoperable). Put about $400 into it and made a plow mount for a Crapsman tractor plow. Works good, pushes a decent amount but I do have to go out a few times if they are predicting a foot or more. 8" is about it before it overwhelms the plow.

Those things are cool! I can’t imagine how much stress they must put on the front end trying to turn those tracks.
The big downside with an ATV is no down pressure so they can’t scrap very well. They used to not be able to push much either but, now they’re getting bigger and bigger, I bet the newer ones do alright.

In my case, that wouldnt be a problem, or even a bad thing... dirt/mud driveway... just need to keep the snow from getting deep enough, that I cant get the van out. The Charger hasnt moved in a week... and may not until a decent thaw...

Thanks, his rental is about a 20 minute drive, so needs to be able to be legal.

Good info on the city plowing, as the rental is in Manchester.

Then he will need to buy something to haul the trailer with the truck on it. Me, I’m not looking for a rock climber, I like driving fast on logging roads and being able to bomb thru trails.
