Unfortunately a lot of them will still waste your time, at least in my experience.

I’ve bought my last few vehicles from the same place so they cut the bs and it’s in and out

I had my financing secured from my bank before purchasing the Tacoma... spent about 7 minutes in the finance office signing BoA and final sale documents, only the warranty sells pitch was given. Said no thanks, and that was it... no hassle and quick.

Honestly no, the pink sheet is pretty easy to read, it itemizes all the charges.,

Agree. When I got mine I was told by the sales mgr that I had good credit score and was going to get 1.9%. Then the finance guy wanted to give me 4.9%. I said that I wanted the 1.9% or wouldn't buy it. He said that if I'll buy an extended warranty he will do the 1.9%. I was tired, hungry & very frustrated. I told him, that it was fine and the next day called to cancel the extended warranty and they applied the$$$ to the principal.

I got the same warranty bumper to bumper 100k/10years

    $1250

But I knew about it. I wouldn’t do it again even though it’s paid for itself already

When you get your new car purchase survey from Toyota corporate, slam them. This will definitely get the dealerships attention as corp takes the surveys very seriously. I would also send an email to the GM telling him/ her that you did not appreciate the slight of hand tactics with regard to the warranty.

Same here. Thinking I tend to hold onto vehicles for a while, I went ahead and paid the additional $2200 for the additional warranty.

For those who did buy the additional warranty beyond base warranty, does it show up on toyotaowners.com website? Mine still shows basic warranty on that website even though paid for additional warranty, wonder why it is not showing the additional warranty stuff

Also got the 100k warranty, @ $1k... After reaming the "finance" person... Invited them to throw in a toolbox for the bed afterwards and got it, but waited until after everything was signed, after the volume of frustration... Also reminded them that there are Yelp and other ways to get the word out about how businesses treat customers...

Since it paid for itself, why won't you do it again?

Went through same thing. Salesman said they add the protection and warranty to all their contracts as a service.
I saw the added costs when I signed the papers, but after 3 1/2 hours of waiting I was ready go home and not wait another hour for revised contracts to be printed without the added nonsense.

2 weeks later I went into the dealership and signed paper to cancel service contract.

After 6 weeks I went into dealership in person and talked to a finance person since dealer does not return calls.
They said they would check on it and call me. Never did.

I called the general manager and told him I was really pissed. Someone eventually called me and said they would cancel it that day, which I verified with the warranty company.

The refund is supposed to go to bank where the truck was leased to be applied to my lease. The dealer got the refund, and said the bank should have it yesterday, Jan. 26.

This all started August 27 and still no refund.

All dealers push it and even worse they try to hide it. When I bought mine the sales man told me there were almost $1000 in fees. When I asked him what the fees were he just said it's registration, doc fees, etc. I said ok, no biggie since the registration in Arizona is high and I knew I would read through the line charges on the documents when signing. So... I sit down with the finance guy and sign documents, he handed me a document for some glass protection deal and I said "what's this for and are we being charged"? When he told me that the fee for this is a part of the $1000 in fees I told him that he and the sales man lied to me. They both said the fees were only registration and doc fees. They took the charge off though. The point is to read everything before you sign. Dealers will try to make money on every step if they can. The dealer add-ons are huge for them, sometimes $500 in add-ons for paint protection and junk that doesn't cost them a dime... Never pay for those either.

I shopped for the 8 year 125K Toyota Platinum Warranty before I ever stepped foot into the Dealership, that way when I got to the finance office they just matched the price of around $1500.

^^This. As soon as I have a final number, and we're at the "sign here, here, here... etc" stage, I tell them I'm not buying ANYTHING else, and if they even suggest it, I'm going to get up and walk. The farthest I've ever got was half-way across the showroom. That got me free floor mats and a couple of "complimentary" oil changes.

I just bring my wife, who is a number crunching, financial planning machine. I've never seen a salesman sweat until I saw her work him and the finance manager over when we just bought her mazda cx5. Shes good.

I agree. Think that’s a lot of paperwork, wait until you buy a house. Lesson is, read your paperwork. Don’t let them or your excitement over a new shiny thing rush you.

Most times when people say they never told me, they told you. You were probably excited and thinking about those new wheels and 6” lift you wanted. Maybe the sliders your book maked or that new bumper.

Also I always find it hilarious that the car salesman spends 5+ hours convincing you that this car is the reliable beautiful car that meets your needs, then the finance guy takes over and spends another hour convincing you that it's a piece of crap that can break any minute for which you need additional warranty coverage for.[/QUOTE]

Has anyone actually needed to use their extended warranty? I have a 10yr 10k Toyota platinum and have debated cancelling it since day 1
