Not sure about automotive locks, but padlocks and Euro-Style lock cores have a circlip you have to remove to remove the core.

Removed the circle clip - now that tumbler sticking up that I think should be all the way in the barrel is keeping the barrel from coming out of the casing / door unlock bracket. It also looks to be what is keeping the key from rotating to unlock the door.

It’s causing it to bind. Have you tried pushing it in?

Usually you need to insert the key into the tumbler to remove the core.

Key's all the way in. Won't go down with significant force from pliers. Looks like this might be doa. Anyone have a spare I could re-key to match my own?

:spending: Amazon wants $90 for oem - you can get both sides for $15 on ebay, but doesn't seem worth the price of having to bust a window if they fail one day simultaneously j/k - seems rather cheap to be quality though.

I put a cheap lock cylinder in my driver door 5 or 6 years ago and have no issues

Like $15 cheap - there's potentially higher quality ones for $65 Could you re-key it to match?

Is that the ignition tumbler or the door tumbler? I have plenty of door tumblers you can have for shipping.

Yo that's expensive - I didn't even know what you were talking about at first - I could see the draw.

The ghetto way is to remove the key pins and grind or reorganize them to fit the profile of your key. The other way is to get a locksmith to do it.

You can buy entire lock sets for the doors for about $40 with a new key aftermarket.

    Or $15 on ebay haha

I saw a bmw tutorial where the guy bought a tumbler kit with all the various tumblers. I couldn't find one for tacomas - how would you get the tumblers out without the right key though - it seems like they would keep themselves from coming out without all being popped in by the right key?
