Right after I moved out of my dad's house. My very first apartment. We start hearing these arguments downstairs. Like this older man was yelling at this little boy. Calling him a f***** and the n word. So I called the cops, thinking domestic violence was well on it's way. I hear the cops bang on his door, then then talking, then they leave. They come up and knock on my door. I let them in and they asked me what I heard, I told them the same thing. They said the reason they wanted to confirm that was he seemed a bit unstable. Apparently he was a drug burnout and now just talks to himself a lot... He was talking to himself the whole time. Talk about some serious mental issues...o_O

A couple years ago I had a neighbor who used to harass everyone on the block. He terrorized everyone, basically proclaimed himself the sheriff and went around enforcing his own"parking" laws and other BS. He was a convicted felon and did some time for towing people's cars as a scam and extorting money from the owners. Caught him startin into one of my roommates windows while she was showering. He made himself scarce until she moved out, then he was back to being the same asshole as before. I left and later read on the news he shot a guy down the street in an episode of roadrage. Guy he killed had a wife and three kids...

He is is prison for the rest of his life now. So there's that at least. Crazy to think I was living next to someone like that for about 2 years though. That's when I learned paying a little more rent can give you more than a bigger floorplan, it can give you better neighbors too. I don't search for the cheapest places anymore lol.

I paid 1200 in rent and still got shit stolen out of my truck. Then the leasing office says no worries we will file the police report for you. How naive I am. It never happened.

Totally get it!!! The neighbor lady brings her little dog to shit in my yard every morning!! Finally caught her one day and yell to her NOT to bring her dog to shit in my yard! She just replies “oh, ok” like she was surprised I was asking her to stop! My son had a 130 pound European Doberman. I wanted to walk him to her yard to repay her!!

man, $1200 here might get you a room in someone's house in a decent neighborhood but definitely not an apartment, unless it was in the slums.

I visit KC once a year or so, used to go a few times a year (was born in Lee's Summit). Older I get the more tempting it is to move back

We just bought a house in Blue Springs. Much nicer than grandview where the apartment was.

I had a neighbor at the last place I lived that I had an ongoing issue with... he had a dog that roamed the neighborhood and carry off anything that wasn't fastened down. If I was outside working on my car, I had to put all my tools up before going inside to use the bathroom or they would disappear. This dog would carry anything it could pick up into his yard and chew on it.

He had a large chain link dog pen beside his house, but would not put the dog in it... I talked to him about it many times, but he claimed it was a stray, it wasn't his dog... but he was feeding it, taking it to the vet, etc.

This went on for a couple of years... then the last straw was when I planted 4 rose bushes in my backyard and they were gone the next morning... I found them chewed up in the neighbors yard, right where I always had to go find my tools and other stuff.

I started throwing all my trash out into my yard... paper plates, cups, coke bottles, cereal boxes, everything... in a few minutes, the trash would disappear. Within a couple of weeks, my neighbors yard started looking like a landfill...

He spent half a day one Saturday cleaning up his yard... a couple of weeks later, he had to clean it up again... that time the dog went in the pen and stayed, at least until I moved out.

At my current house, I have a 30 x 40 metal shop on the south side of my yard and a 16 x 16 metal shed on the north side that I keep my Yamaha Rhino parked in. One day a couple of years ago, my neighbor that lives to my north (about 300 yards away) stepped outside and emptied a 9mm handgun toward my house. I had just stepped out of the front door of my shop... the first shot hit the back of my shed, the rest went right over my head... 10 shots within 2-3 seconds.

I jumped in my truck and went over to his house... I was PISSED! I was screaming at him so loud that my other neighbor came over to see what was happening... he ended up having to calm me down. The guy that did the shooting kept saying 'ok, but we have to respect each other'... I told him that respect is not given, it is earned... and he won't earn any respect by shooting holes in my property.

His mother (she owns their house) finally came out and apologized and told him that he was not to do any more shooting on her property. Apparently, he listened, I haven't heard any more shooting from there since then.

I suggest you move to a better area.
We moved to the country 25 years ago to get rid of idiot neighbors. They will degrade your property values right along with theirs. Find your little piece of heaven and build your retirement home. It's never too early.
All the land around us was eventually bought up by a nature preserve.

My buddy pays well over 1500 in rent in Katy Texas. The other night there was some guy running around in the complex firing a handgun in the air and through the hallways. He slept with the shotgun all night. Apartments won’t do shit. Once they got you in that lease they don’t care.

If a police report was made, grounds to demand deposit back, then run screaming away to a better neighborhood.
