Wah Wah Wah. My truck shifts too much. My truck is noisy. My truck is not what I thought it would be. I owe too much on it to sell it. Wah Wah wah.

Should have done your research. Should have become a member of TW first, BEFORE you bought. Should have done a test drive. Should have been more money savvy or brought someone with you when you bought.

I'm not saying I'm the sharpest tool in the drawer but I did my research first. It's funny how people will just rush in and spend $40K without much thought. Yes, I bought a 4 cyl. I knew or had a good idea what I was buying and also what the truck wasn't going to be. I'm very happy with my truck. If I was sooo unhappy, I'd ask for advice about what I could do to make it better, if anything. I wouldn't go to an owner's forum and throw insults and whine whine whine. Pester the dealership, start a complaint with Toyota, or sell it and be done. Period.

 

I'm on my 5th Toyota 4x4 over the last 30 years and I just turned 1300 miles on my '18 TRD 4x4 OR. So far, so good! Sometimes these forums give people something to look for, that's not there for some folks. I haven't towed with it yet, but no problems driving in town or on the highway for that matter. I am coming from an 06 MT, so I'm still getting used to driving an AT again. So far, so good!

 

I have experienced low average gas mileage. Probably averaging 14, and that is with many highway miles.

I guess I attributed it to my driving style and the fact that I got a lift and larger heavier wheels plus that I carry about 150lbs of gear, but this has been disappointing.

 

Yup. I get the impression that a fair number of these trucks are an impulse buy.

"Oh my freaking gawd they got the voodoo blue in! Oh my gawd I'm creaming my jeans look at that sick lift! Look at that stance bro! This has everything I've been looking for! (Takes 2 minute test drive while finger fucking the infotainment center) Dude I want this!" I just gots to have this!!!!!"

Then the sales liar and finance devil anally rape the poor guy with a rusty barbed wire wrapped catcus. Then after the voodoo blue honeymoon is over the poor guy realizes they made a mistake and is angry. It's hard to be angry with yourself so they lash out at the truck, the forum, the world. We all make mistakes. Some are expensive. Best to admit your mistakes, cut your losses and move on. Better than being unhappy with a vehicle you really don't like.

 

So just because my truck doesn't have those issues and I enjoy it I'm a fanboy?

You shouldn't be on here, doing research. Hopefully you're not test driving either. How else are you going to be able to complain once you purchase !

I'll say it again. No one I've talked to has complained about their truck. I've gotten some odd looks and even startled a couple guys by walking up to them asking about their truck. But they all like their vehicles. I am test driving and doing PRE buying research. I guess that makes me a fanboi.

 

You are a fanboi in training. By the time you make your purchase you will be a full on fanboi. Someone should make a patch for us fanboys.

How do can you expect anyone to take your advice on buying some $700 tune if you didn’t even test drive the vehicle before you bought it? Because I mean, if you had test drove it, you would have realized that you needed a 400 HP V-8 that could go 0-60 in 6sec and not a V-6 that can go 0-60 in 7.1sec.
Oh and btw, just so you know, I get up to 21-22+ mpg @70+ on flat ground with the plain old factory tune.

But yet here you are trying to convince the world that the truck has engine performance issues that only some tune to the tone of $700 can fix.
