Did you consider Schluter Ditra instead of backerboard ?

I remember you recommended it and I looked into it, but it was about 3x as expensive. Looked easier to work with that's for sure though. This isn't our forever home so I'm trying to keep the renovation cost down.

TY, definitely looking forward to it! Been renting this house for about 20 years so I already know what it needs.

My wife and I rented our current house from her parents after we both graduated from Ohio University. Ended up buying it off of them after renting for a few years and it’s worked out very well.

Congrats and good luck on everything!

They do, they just don’t tell you, if you pop the end caps off you can secure it to the wall with a couple screws. I’ve done it multiple times in sun rooms I’ve built for customers.

Got the table saw in. Just a few shelves and the bottom to go. Everything is cut I just need to make a few cleats for the shelves to sit on.

Yeah I was thinking about this as well. Or possibly a 4x4 block that will double as a brake and a brace for the center. The casters were only $4 so I may just grab 2 more. The table is 8 feet long and very heavy so you make a very good point

The nut on a pipe connecting to the Pump on my jacuzzi tub cracked last night and dumped about 20 gallons of water out. Second floor bathroom, water was coming thru the can lights in the kitchen, water followed some ceiling joist down a hallway. I got up as much water as I could with the shop vac and towels but the damage was done. All in all I have about 20 or 30 sq feet of drywall to pull and replace, that's just what I can see. Some is above kitchen cabinets that go to the ceiling. This is not the home improvement project I was hoping for. I have had space heaters and fans going 24 hours to try to dry stuff out. I need to start cutting out drywall because is a sponge and the damage keeps spreading out.

The home improvement project needs to be to rip out the tub lol. The only stories I have heard about those are nightmare problems.

No intention for an insurance claim?

    That sucks. I’m sorry.

I'm not sure the claim will be worth the cost of the deductible and possible rate hike

i plan to use their vented tiles like Swisstrax for my garage. Always a good price from them with their rotating discount codes.

I was putting anchors in my ceiling to put up new LED lights and dropped the hammer and shattered a tile in the center of the floor. YouTube tells me it is easy to pop one out with a putty knife, so we shall see. Putting them together was a pain, but taking one out of the center does not sound like it’s going to be fun.

Thats always a concern and I’m very much a self insurer type person, I don’t make claims against my insurance unless its a need and my deductibles are high.

Was just curious. This one might be borderline for me depending on damage.

They’re plastic. Very strong, but thy won’t take a 7 foot fall from a hammer at the wrong angle

Guessing the vented ones don't let a creeper roll very well do they?

Probably not. I also haven’t jacked a car up on top of these. I was thinking if I had to do that I would probably put a 2x8 under the jack as a precaution so as not to puncture the flooring

Maybe I won't do the whole garage in these, just the area where I have my workbench/tool boxes.
