Is there a quick, easy way to tell if our Tacoma has the tow package? It’s a 2017 DCAB SR5 V6 4x4. For all I know, it could be standard? I’ve read that the towing capacity is only 3500lbs without towing package but over 6000lbs with the towing package. It does have a receiver hitch but we did purchase it used.

If it has 4/7 pin connections in the back by the license plate then it has the tow package

No problem. 2017’s it was an option, they made it standard 2018+

Do you have the square trailer hitch (square steel thing hanging in the rear)??

If you have a second small radiator in front of your big radiator it’s the towing transmission cooler

Of course it has a receiver hitch, as stated in the original post. But we purchased the truck used and a receiver hitch can always be added.

This may be the the best thing to check for. A receiver hitch or trailer plug can easily be added but I highly doubt anyone would add a transmission cooler.

True, but most dealers put it as a add on... you would almost have to ask not to have one put on.

Register your truck with Toyota, it gives you all sorts of useful information.

    Working on them
Just get your VIN number and go to Toyota's - Toyota Owners Online website (link to follow) and under Vehicle Specs you will see where you enter your VIN number and see what the Truck came with from Factory and what was added at Port (still factory considered since done to Toyota's specs) and No you don't have to Register if you do not want to you will still get the same information.

I would think so. The tranny cooler is like 10” x 4”, just helps regulate temp

In the past historically tranny coolers were not always installed in MT trucks.
