I grinded the tip on the grease gun down a little, kinda looks like a sharpened pencil, it helps get to the zerk on the front driveshaft.

Is the front drive shaft spinning if in 2WD? It spins by hand now as truck is in P and OFF...why would spin while driving in 2WD?

How many greasing points are there? besides the drive shaft? Might get busy tomorrow.

Would something like this in the link below work? I’m about to start back to doing all my maintenance again. It’s just too time consuming to run back and forth to the dealer and I always have to drop it off at night and leave it. It gets even harder with 5 more vehicles to get back and forth so I figure I could just get up early (as much as I hate that part) on Saturday mornings and get it done and get it done right.

    Yes.
Normal operation of spinning driver-side axle connected to driveshaft via spider gear.
Passenger side axle is isolated by ADD. The transfer case is isolated because the 4wd drive gear is not engaged.

This simple procedure did more to lessen my driveline vibes than the TSB for replacing the rear axles did . Truck only has 1200 miles on it , I would have never suspected something as simple as dry front ujoint cups .... awesome info !

I am not sure if that would work as I can't see how that would mate up with the zerk.

Could someone describe where the grease points are? Are thr the only ones?

After seeing this thread I may just go through and top them all off.

If your truck was manufactured before June/July of 2016, and is 4wd, it should have 5. The two on the front driveshaft are located on the cross journal. The three on the rear driveshaft are located on one end of the trunions.
Pump grease until you see new grease coming out each seal. The idea is to purge and refill; not just fill.

So now of course my OCD brain has kicked in and I’m thinking that if the rear driveshaft had greasable u joints, (like the 2nd gens)I could reduce the driveline vibes even more ! Haha...

I am not super knowledgeable in this area, but not greasing them would increase risk of early failure and would ruin the whole driveline components or? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question. Knowledge is power and I intend on keeping the truck for a long time.

This would be the best if greasing a lot.

A LOT! of vibration is caused by the off-center U-Joint at the TC side (top part of the video). I would NOT put something like that in my lathe.
I would put a dial indicator on that flange and play with it till most centered.

OK folks, I’ve got to “fess up” that I’ve been tucked away in an office for over 25 years. I started helping out with our family trucking business when I was a 6 year old kid and was “free labor” for turning wrenches and doing whatever else had to be done for many years after that. But, moral of the story is that I’m at best rusty. Do we know if there is a thread on her that shows how many fittings we need to grease on these Tacos? I know it seems to vary from year to year but mine is a 17. Any help would be appreciated. I bet my Toyota dealership has never greased mine.
