I finally made up my mind about selling my truck and getting a 17+ MT TRDOR, but I decided to be smart about it and sell my truck privately instead of losing a ton on a trade-in. I also decided to part it out instead of letting it go as is... I know it’ll take a while but it’ll save me money. Let me know if you want anything off it as well!

The rest of this is for anyone near NorCal, I’m not shipping anything. Sorry!
I don’t really need to sell mods aside from the softopper/bedrug, but we can make a deal on anything.

Nice Truck Dude! I would definitely be interested in some of your take-offs but you are on the wrong end of the state. Let me know if you ever plan to be in SoCal!

Why not keep the parts for the new truck?

I would get your truck back to stock, ASAP, clean up the parts and list them individually, in the mean time private party list your truck in stock trim, saves you time as your truck depreciates more and the chance to get into the new truck sooner and maybe even transfer some of those parts.

He most likley won’t receive as much (if any) credit for the mods if trading in... or, if selling private, mods sometime limit your prospective buyers to those wanting similar mods installed.

But he can still strip it now and use the parts later if he chooses than trying to slowly part it out and hold onto the truck.

He means, KEEP the mods and put them on the new truck.

    Here’s why...

I’d like to go a different route with the new truck and keep it more conservative for at least a year or two.
(255/85’s on stock wheels, 1 inch level in the front)

Id keep my softopper/bedrug but I’m getting a short bed.

I love my SCS wheels but I could use the money for now, and get a set of 17” Ray 10’s or something later... just depends what color truck I end up with. I love bronze ray 10’s lol. I’d also want some coilovers to hit 3” of lift, which means I need UCA’s and some other things which I can’t afford right now.

I’ll save along the way and slowly build my truck exactly how I want it...
I believe I could hang on to an dcsb 6MT TRDOR for at least 7-8 years so it’ll be worth it.
I really miss having a double cab and a locker... and a manual trans

Edit: @Shellshock nevermind, I already bought the accumulator delete kit so I guess I’m committed

I've had 7 tacomas, traded in the last 4, but I did so with the tax savings which I know CA doesnt get. Couldnt hurt to see what the dealer will offer you modded vs. stock, could go either way. I got an extra $1.5k over KBB on my 15 because it was tastefully lifted with wheels / tires for my 16. My 16 to 17 I squeezed another $1k out of them since I had the TRD PRO SEMA wheels and KO2s on there. My 17 was stock so can't talk there. Every dealer will be different some will claim the "if it was stock we could give you more / KBB" some will give you more thinking someone will want a lifted truck.

My closest dealer didn’t care to give me more for the mods. They quoted me at 22k for a trade in... i figured I could get at least 25k privately, even if I sell it stock.

Well there ya go! I wouldnt wait though since Feds will be raising interest rates agressively this year, your current truck will continue to depreciate, etc. I'd move it back to stock as soon as possible and list it for sale, then list each part individually. Worst case scenario no bites on it private party and you trade it in stock.
